With the growing popularity of the lighter weight classes, more and more fighters are starting to find the division that they excel in. The newest addition to that list will be Leonard Garcia, who is expected to drop to 145 pounds and move from the Ultimate Fighting Championship to compete in World Extreme Cagefighting’s featherweight division, as confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by his coach and trainer, Greg Jackson.

He could be a beast in that weight class in the WEC.

Damn it Leonard could have been a force in the UFC's 155, he will be a bomb in pacifist convention in the WEC's 145, give him his title shot now, I cannot think of anybody besides the top contenders that could even make a fight with him.

Sounds excellent for him... If he can make the weight comfortably, he'll be an absolute monster..

I doubt he could of tbh, he nearly lost to Monstah Lobstah and got beat on by Huerta, he will be much better at 145 and im interested to see how he does there as there are great fights to be had in the WEC FW division

Huerta is not a bad lost, well unless Guida unveils him as a fraud, he is also young and showed an awesome chin, unless again Huerta is shown not to have any punching power, but Huerta seems to be extrordinarily quick and powerful so I at least chalk it up to a good showing on Garcia part.

Thats fair enough bud but i think the opposite on those things tbh, Huerta is good but lacks power, he isnt well rounded enought to beat Clay but we shall see, i agree that isnt a bad loss and he hung in there but its more the trouble he had with Berube that made me disgree that ever could have been a force in the UFC, i will say he could be in the WEC at 145 tho

He'll be pretty powerful at 145, but I don't think that he could handle Faber, Swanson, or Pulver. This division is definitely the strongest already in the WEC, and it's just getting better. I'm glad he dropped, I believe he would've got lost int he mix of great Lightweights in UFC.

I am confident he will handle Cub and Pulver but maybe not Faber, but he would make a war out of it

I think it would definitely be a war fighting any of the three. I'm looking forward to him fighting at 145.

I'll second that. Tough kid, good chin. I don't see him beating Faber or Curran ,but at least he won't be so tiny at his weight class now.
