I respect the legends but there time has passed to compete at the top level. I would imagine that it would be hard to sell a PPV and an event headlined by a couple of ageing fighters when there is so much young talent

Don Frye would be an interesting addition considering all he does is come out swinging for the fences.

What the hell are you guys talking about? I would buy a ppv if these guys were all on it...even if they were the only ones on it. I'd be all over it. Their time has definitely passed for them to be fighting top opponents, but if they were fighting each other, they wouldn't be fighting top opponents! Sign me up!

Shamrock was on sherdog radio, trying to promote the idea of a legends card. Tank, Ken, Frank, Royce, Severn, Frye, Patrick Smith, Kimo etc. id pay to see them beat the hell out of each other one last time

I would really enjoy a legends of the octagon event. Would be nice see the pioneers of the sport to once again have a chance in an MMA fight instead of being labeled as old useless underdogs against top competition. Have something like top 16 pioneers with 8 matches. Or better yet have 8 pioneers invited (from early UFC'S) and have a tournament style like back in the day. Having a couple of tournaments a year. Being a viewer of the UFC from literally "The Beginning" (UFC 1) I would really enjoy it and would not hesitate to buy it on PPV.

Hell yeah I would watch these guys fight!
Their is a lot of great younger talent out their, but I still love to see the old school fighters step in and duke it out.The way I see it,you can bring up all the contreversy you want. You can talk about how their past their prime, yadayadayda. However, these guys were the first wave of atheletes in a new sport.I can't help but imagine that one day people might be thinking, man I wish I could have seen Royce Gracie fight live.Or hearing people say their will never be another Fedor.I hope some of our MMA pioneers will get the respect older atheletes in other sports recieve.I hope guys like Randy Couture & Bas Rutten get the respect that sports icons such as Willie Mays or Micky Mantle recieved in Baseball.Just because some of these older fighters can't hang the way they used to,or the sport has evolved past their skill doesn't mean we should treat them with less respect.

Granted, their is a time when any athelete can push their limit. But as long as these older fighters still have a fight or two left in them,I will be watching and I hope others will be as well.

I don't want to see the legends (*note spelling) of this sport taking more damage than they have to. Guys like Sakuraba and Don Frye don't need to be fighting anymore, as a matter of fact they should have stopped several years ago. It's not just age or experience--otherwise Randy Couture shouldn't be fighting--it's the amount of tough fights and sustained beatings they've taken. If you use these guys up 10 years from now, instead of going on ESPN and talking about their memories of the 2000 Grand Prix or the first Ultimate Ultimate tournament they are going to be soundbytes on a Bob Costas or Bill O'Reilly segment talking about how MMA needs to be outlawed/regulated the way Muhammed Ali or Evander Holyfield are being used for boxing.

If people who've protected their bodies wnat to keep fighting, that's OK with me. But realized that who wins and loses will have more to do with how "young" they've been able to stay as much as how good they are in their prime. If you made a 40+ league you could have compettive fights with guys like Dan Severn, Tank Abbott, Marco Ruas, Murillo Bustamante, K. Shamrock, Oleg Taktarov and Rickson Gracie, but if you throw Randy Couture into that group you're going to need an ambulance brought to ringside for every other fight...it's not that he has too much skill, it's that he's still fighting with too much speed and reflex while those guys have had those qualities seriously diminished.

Royce already proved that he would win in a fight, and has established himself as the best in the octagon,

Wasn't that like 10-15 years ago?

I'd like to see a Royce vs Busta fight

Throw in a Shamy vs Frye rematch

Top it off with Hackney vs Joe Son II (scratch the NSAC rules just for old times sake)

I bet Matua is itching to get back at Tank, make it happen I say...

Hell, I'd watch it

As soon as I saw the Tank vs. Mir fight I realized that MMA has evolved drastically and Tank's time has passed and he can't get away with just brawling anymore and should retire.
