Next Up For Lashley: Ron Waterman

The next step up for Bobby Lashley likely won't be the big step his management was promising. Reports are the 4-0 Lashley will next face fellow one-time wrestler Ron Waterman, who spent some time in the WWF/E developmental system while also compiling a 16-6-2 MMA record. The fight is scheduled for October 3.

C'mon, give him someone who will actually push Lashley...

They can't have him fight these sub par fighters and then expect him to destroy a top 10/15.
Give him a top 25 at least

IDK....I like that he is getting built up slowly. Dudes been fighting for about a year, has 4 fights under his belts all wins. All his competition is getting steadily stiffer, he fought a guy with no record, then J Guida (17-20) then Cook (7-4) then Sapp (10-5). It's a sign of being responsible and making steady progression. Waterman has a 16-6 record, and some big names under his belt. It's a step up in competition experience. Now if and when he losses at least we are not left with the feeling we would have if say Kimbo or Lesnar lost. If one of those 2 guys lost we are left wondering if they are just a flash in the pan, if we were duped by the fight hype machine. Lashley is being very serious, responsible and mature with his career and I approve!

Yeah man Waterman is a step up from Sapp, If Lashley keeps up this pace than in about a year he will have a handful of fights against no-joke competition and if he wins he'll be ready to actually be a relevant factor

I agree. If they push him too fast, it upsets people. If they bring him along slowly, it upsets people.

I think he's being brought along slowly. I actually think that is how you are supposed to do it. However, with Lashley's wrestling and entertainment experience being in front of so many people I think signing to Strikeforce is the next step. A couple years there and then the UFC.

fighting guys that people know can only help his stock,and these crafty vets can throw things at him that he hasnt seen which will only help him. i like what they are doing with him, and when he does finally take the leap against someone top 20 or so its going to have that much more hype behind it.

Sorry, Bob Sapp probably would've beaten Kevin at the time, so would Jason Guida.

Never understood why peopl don't like H2O man...look at his record...its quite good.
