A source close to Kongo informed Sportsnet that the French striker is tentatively scheduled to face Frank Mir at UFC 107 in Memphis, TN.

The timing works great for Kongo as fellow Wolfslair training partner, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, is set to headline the UFC 107 show against his Ultimate Fighter 10 coaching counterpart, Sugar Rashad Evans.

Mir's camp has stated they have yet to hear of this fight request, but have stated they are definitely interested in fighting Kongo.

Decent match up. I think we might see a lot of stand up in this fight unless Mir gets rocked and shoots in.

Looking forward to this fight though.

It's an okay matchup. I think Kongo will try to keep this standing. Mir is excellent on the ground and after seeing Kongo's last fight against Velasquez where he got demolished on the ground, he will want to keep it standing. If it goes to the ground Mir will probably submit him easily. I don't think Kongo will win unless he is able to catch Mir with some good strikes.

I like Kongo's fights in general but I wish he would learn some ground techniques and/or TDD.

Man, I hope Kongo kicks Mir into next week!

I'm not sure who to pick in this, probably have to go with Mir because of his versatility compared to Kongo. But Kongo might be hungrier.

It makes sense and should be a good fight!

To me this is the fight where Mir realizes he is not an elite striker.

I see Kongo punishing Mir and finishing him in the second round by TKO or KO. Unless Mir can submit Kongo without taking him down, I don't see him having much chance.

When did Kongo get this great td defense? Mir subs him late round 2.

I called this one in the "next fights" thread!

Leaning towards Mir by sub, but he has that idea in his head that he can out box Klitschko and out Kick CroCop...and if goes in trying to prove his standup, he will get put to sleep in the first

Mir's too smart to keep this fight standing. after watching valasquez dominate him on the ground i'm sure Frank will find a way to get Kongo on the ground.

also nice to see kongo get time to prepare for a fight for a change!

He doesn't, but I never considered Mir to have great takedowns and I think Kongo's strength will go a long way, especially after landing some heavy kicks to a Mir that wants to stand with him.

I agree and disagree with you. I agree this is certainly the fight where Mir realizes he is not an elite striker. However I think this is the fight where Mir realizes he has an elite ground game and uses it against an opponent who has no ground game. Mir by submission, an easy submission.

I think Mir is smart enough to know he had to beat Nog standing up and did just that the Brock fight well not sure what his true game plan was but thinking you have better striking Brock Lesnar isn't a sin. I don't think he will feel so comfortable agianst Kongo I think he will look for the win get it to the ground and sub him.

If this fight goes the way I'm hoping Mir is gonna get his face kneed in. But he'll probably submit Kongo.
