Anyone know anything about drug test?

Okay here's my sob story.
On January 18th of this year I had a cold and took 3 teaspoons of Codeine. I had no script.
Well I had a job interview last week. Pops out all the sudden for a resume I sent in over a year ago to this company. The interview went well they told me they would call this week for a second interview. Well then I find out they drug test. No sweat.
No not piss test,hair test.
This is really freaking me out. If this second interview goes well i'm pretty sure i'll get the hair test. .........What really pains me is if i got this job on a yearly basis I would be making nearly 3x more than i am now.

I know Codeine will metabolize as morphine and show up in a hair test up to 90 days. But does anyone know if 3 teaspoons is strong enough to show up on a hair test?


Props unless I gotta spread the love.....(and maybe a personal check if I get the job)

Don't know much about hair tests, but my knee-jerk reaction is to:

1) run out and try to get a script or
2)shave entire body

Never had a hair test to get a job bro but I wouldn't think that amount would be enough

Well my recent research shows that the standard is 300 ml of any opiate for a hair folicale test. 3 teaspoons equals 15 ml,which eases my mind a little.

They need atleast half an inch of hair. Depending on the lab they will go anywhere for the hair if one place isnt lomg enough.


I think you will be ok though because it will take it a little bit of time to actually get inside your hair

and it doesn't grow out into every hair. it grows into random patches all over the body so you have pretty good odds that even if it does end up in there the chances are slim that its their test sample.

I had to research this because while I am drug free my friends do smoke around me and my employers pre-employment drug test tested back 3 months.

Thanks for all the help guys. I've been super stressed the past few days over this.

I don't think you have to much to worry about, not like you used it all the time, you took a little amount over 2 months ago, you should be clean as a whistle.

I believe opiates have a half life of 6 hours. I wouldnt be worried. You could always shave your head and offer pubes.

That doesn't apply to hair.

I would think no way. Even people slammin a ball of black tar into what's left of their veins every 24 hours, it's gone in under 90 days from even hair, I doubt with that small amount you would've ever had it detectable in your hair or fingernails. Probably was detectable in your urine and saliva for a day tops and only in your blood as long as you were feeling it. The drug charts don't really consider someone who takes one half puff of pot off a pipe, a tiny amount of codeine, etc. when they put the minimum time each drug is detectable. I wouldn't even give it anymore thought if I was in your position. With that amount, you'll be good to go Let us know if you get it!

EDIT: Is this a big company so I know where not to apply for future reference? j/k(?) Did you tell them Google and Microsoft don't drug test at all.

Pretty big company but not one that's really a household name,though you'll probably see their stuff in places you work.

Anyways,I go for the test and a physical on Tuesday.
I'm nervous as hell. Anyways,someone I know at the company told me I should have nothing to worry about since I don't smoke pot.
