Josh Koscheck wants Nick Diaz at UFC 157 on Super Bowl weekend

If Nick Diaz (26-8 MMA, 7-5 UFC) has to fight at least once more before a title shot, Josh Koscheck (17-6 MMA, 15-6 UFC) figures it might as well be against him.
Koscheck recently mentioned Diaz, Demian Maia, Jake Ellenberger and Rory MacDonald as targeted opponents for 2013.
Now, he said he's taking up Diaz trainer Cesar Gracie's challenge for the contenders to meet at the UFC's Super Bowl weekend show, which is expected to be UFC 157 on Feb. 2 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
"I am DOWN! Don't be scared Homie! #559 lol," Koscheck tweeted.

This is a good fight. It should test Diaz's maturity. Will he be ready for the takedown control? Or will he call Josh Koscheck a bitch for using wrestling techniques in a mixed martial arts contest?

Would love for this to happen. Two fighters that are shown as the bad guys of MMA. Could end up being a war. If the fight happens I believe Kos will try to get it to the floor because Diaz is less of a threat there. However, he has to get him there first. I say, whoever has the better game plan will take this one in the long run. Either Diaz via (t)ko or Kos via Sub. Thats what I'd be torn between.

There is no way Kos subs Diaz, if Kos wins it's by a decision

The only way to defeat a Diaz is by decision. If you put a Diaz in a dark alleyway with anyone, Diaz walks out.

I believe he will still be suspended come 157.
I still think fight would happen unless
Gsp loses to condit. And then its Diaz vs gsp in Canada in 2013

I don't know who to cheer for as I like both fighters (crazy I know), but for division implications I want Diaz to win

Exactly what I was thinking.... How can he fight Feb 2nd when he's not eligible to apply for a license until Feb 4th... I'd like to see Diaz on that card as much as anybody, considering his suspension is a joke, I hope he can appeal the date he can apply for a license somehow... Overeem gets 9 months for whatever he was doing, Diaz gets 12 months for being good at chilling out. Bizzaro world....

Kos will do what he's always done since his first loss to GSP and swing himself into a coma against a competent striker when he could win an EASY decision. I'm sorry but when Sean Sherk and Diego Sanches are pulling easy dec wins over Diaz its pretty evident a REAL wrestler would take 30-27 rapage.

Nick Diaz got out struck by KJ Noons 5 years ago but you don't see me ranting about how his boxing sucks. No doubt Diaz's weakest aspect is his wrestling but he looks like a much sharper fighter than he did 7 years ago.

Shamrock didnt even try to wrestle and BJ beat that ass before his taco bell diet took its toll. But youre right, being a better fighter means something whatsoever about his wrestling....

He trains with Jake Shields at Caesar Gracie. He looks like an all around improved fighter. And yes wrestling IS part of fighting.

Anyway, Kos doesnt have the gas or the defense to fight off Diaz for 3, and his bjj defense has never been better than average.

Sherk was. Plain and Simple he was a smaller man and took the TD to Diaz
And you dont think Kos' size advantage would win him out on the ground?

I think koscheck hasnt changed his strategy in years other than when he fights completely one-dimensional fightets. He strikes to set up the takedown, and he shoots halfway into the round to save energy and secure rounds. He also gets hit alot by jabs and since hes fighting a southpaw the distance between him and his opponents center of gravity is farther apart. Kos will have to work too much too early to sustain a decision pace. Thats why i dont think his size id much of a key factor.
