John Alessio (34-14 MMA, 0-3 UFC) has finally booked his return to the UFC.

The veteran fighter has replaced injured Matt Wiman (14-6 MMA, 8-4 UFC) and now meets fellow lightweight Mark Bocek (10-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) later this month at UFC 145.

Bocek today tweeted the news and stated Wiman suffered a knee injury. ( could not immediately confirm details of the injury.

UFC 145 takes place April 21 at Atlanta's Phillips Arena. The main card airs on pay-per-view, and FX and Facebook carry the prelims.

Wiman vs. Bocek was slated for the PPV portion of the card, though it's not clear if it'll retain its main-card slot with the change.

Glad to see Alessio back with the UFC but I don't see him winning this fight. I'm pretty bummed about Wiman being injured That was going to be a great fight.

Great to see Alessio back in the octagon, but its going to be along night for him in my opinion. Bocek takes this one all day not a doubt in my mind.

I knew they were gonna bring back Alessio, thought it was gonna be in Calgary, he could still fight on that card tho.

I agree that its a bad match up but honestly if John wants to fight in the UFC then he needs to be ready to fight that level of competition. Bocek is not the champion nor has he ever been so it's a fair reality check imo.

Bocek is a beast, and Alessio has questionable submission defense. I see Mark taking this fight and sending Alessio packing yet again.
