Is Joe Duarte “The Next Anderson Silva”?

[Dana White] said he’s found “the next Anderson Silva,” a lightweight who is competing in Season 8 of TUF at 155 pounds, though he declined to release the fighter’s name because it might spoil the season. “I was going off when I saw this guy,” White said. “He’s 24 and he’s destroying people. It’s sick how bad ass he is. I’m getting goose bumps talking to you about him.”

i'm gonna go out on a limb and say he is one of the finalists.

i really think the UFC stepped it up for this TUF because the talent level of the fighters is way higher than the past few seasons. i am actually interested in TUF again.

yea man i've noticed that with the few rumored fighter that have been named, Soszynski, Texeira, amongst the other are defenately some of the most talented to ever be on TUF...+ i really like the coaches this season.

did anyone watch the videos? the guy he fought in the second fight was the definition of a can and would make most fighters look like anderson silva. duarte didnt look great for most of his first fight, but did finish very strongly so i guess im saying he looked ok, but does the second fight really show us anything about how good he is? lets just say that at this point im not ready to name him a finalist on the show.

doesnt his name seem eerily similar to Joe Dirt's alias, Joe Dirte'?

yea i just watched the videos, he did finish strong, but he was taken down rather easily in his first fight, and i dont think he could reverse a good wrestler as he did to that guy.....still this is just speculation( that duarte is the guy dana is talking about)...for all we know it might not even be him......

but on a side note, he does have a 9-0 in pro boxing, and 19-1 in Muay Thai record, so that might be what Dana is referring to, both those fights we saw very little of his stand up, so on TUF he might have destroyed some guys standing.....

Always nice when Dana comes out and tells everyone who the teachers pet will be this season. Sigh

I am extremely looking forward to this TUF. I hope it was better than last seasons.

He looks pretty good.. in the first video he showed good composure and some good jujitsu. I'd like to see his stand up game, because I have some guamanian friends and they are raised on muy thai. In the second vid the announcer said about his opponent "That was the weakest knee I have ever seen.."

so i guess he is the favorite to win just like dolloway was!!
and see how that ending came out
