After a decisive victory over top russian HW Sergei Kharitonov at Dream 8, what is Monsons next move? With an 8-2 recoed in his last ten fights, losing only to Pedro Rizzo and Josh Barnett. Doesn't the Snowman deserve a shot back in the UFC. He could present a lot of good match ups, Velasquez, HH, Kongo, Hardonk, Dos Santos, Carwin. I think Jeff despite all his problems of late is a great fighter and deserved of being in the UFC. What do you all think??????

I would personally like to see him back. I may be biased because I'm a fan, but he's beaten some pretty good competition since leaving and could add an interesting dynamic to the ufc's hw division.

Yes, I was shocked after he beat Sergei. I hope they bring him back and add more depth to their HW division.

I'd like to see him back in the UFC. I'm a fan and didn't think that he was gonna beat Kharitinov, but I'm glad he did.

I don't think Monson would beat the top few guys, but he is definitely better than most of the HWs in the UFC. I think there could be a place for him as a gatekeeper. Not sure if it will happen though as Monson is kind of a loose cannon and has been public in the past about his pro-steroid stance.

I will try to find some... I am sure I have heard him espouse steroids before. Check some old sherdog radio archives for interviews with Monson. I might have heard it there.

And that right there is why he should be brought back. He provides a clear contender and hard fight for anyone in the UFC and he's an interesting match up for many of the mid-upper echelon fighters (i use that loosely) in the UFC.

I'm sorry but the Snowman would have worn gold if Timmah didn't avoid him at every chance for 5 rounds.

As we saw Monson is still a big time competitor in grappling. I think that the heavyweight division in the UFC could definitely use him. I think he would be a tough test for someone like Carwin or Velasquez in their quest for a title shot.

He's calling out Fedor for a fight in DREAM.

those where seven years ago and i doubt monson would be able to cut to 205 to fight chuck or forrest. if monson gets you to the ground he will find a way to choke you out.

if nothing else he boosts the depth of the division. everyone should say yes to this question. Not only that hes a great guy

He's got 6 good wins and no losses in the last 7 months. I think he deserves a spot if the criteria is being one of the top HWs in the world or if the criteria is being able to beat someone else on the roster.

But I think the UFC is happy that he lost his high profile fight and can be written off as a result. Much like Sylvia, he doesn't have the style or the look that the UFC wants to market to fans as the HW champion of the world. Plus it's hard to imagine a poster boy/spokesperson who is an outspoken anarchist.

Good point Monson is hard to hype/market. Stil i think he could provide a good gatekeeper staus in the UFC

I want to see the Snowman back, don't really care if he's an anarchist, I just want the HW division to have more depth

Thats the reason for this thread........noting the man for his acomplishments not his views. Too much emphsis is put on PC and not on thre things that are important. i guess Jeff is a poster child for all of us who like to cut across the grain and ask ?. War Monson and his rise ........wherever it takes place.

I don't think he'd do any better than his first time in.

I also am not sure if he even wants back in - he fights so often (3 times in 3 weeks most recently) and the UFC would have him waiting around for so long...

There's also the whole defacing a federal building thing...

No. And not because he isn't a good fighter or anything like that. He's a pretty big name. He's had a title shot and he'd probably need to be well paid. But I don't think he'll ever be a champion and he has had a very up and down career. Unfortunately I think his name has outgrown his fighting ability and he requires to much money for not enough talent.

Which was a #1 contender with a title shot at one point.......There are 10-15 guys in the UFC's HW divison that may not ever get that high up the rankings. So no he may not do as good as his first time in the UFC but hes still better than Hardonk, Herring, Etc...
