Andrei Arlovski suffered a broken jaw in his WSOF 2 bout, but did it occur after the round should have been over?

that doesnt change the fact that AA got beat up. i hope they dont rule it a no contest over this just to save AA from having another loss on his record because thats really all that will get accomplished.

It does actually. the big shot that dropped him happened after the round should have ended and he fought 2 rounds with a broken jaw. We may have saw a different fight otherwise.

or maybe not.

we'll never know now. Damn time keepers...

Sucks that AA is going to be sitting out for awhile now.

I think it's a valid argument, every fighter tries to steal those final seconds of the round but he probably wasn't thinking he was going to be swinging for 20 seconds, or he might have been coasting by then.

I know we already talked about this in another thread and I said that the clock on the screen isn't always accurate, so I timed it off the fight itself. The round actually ran 5:06 from bell to bell.

In that case, they really should overturn it, as the injury occurred after the round would have been over. Sucks for AJ obviously, but you can't know how the fight would have played out if Arlovski's jaw wasn't busted.

How can we be certain Arlovski's jaw was broken in the final flurry? He fought two more rounds without anyone realizing what had happened. He could've broken it earlier in the round.

we will never know how the fight would have turned but it doesn't change the fact that he got rocked with a power shot after the round should have been over. it would be one thing if it was just a jab but this was a power shot that rocked him and is rumored to be the one that broke his jaw. either way i think this at least earns him a rematch

Ok,.... what would you say if it was 8 seconds before the fight started? because its no different. it was 8 seconds OUTSIDE of the legal time, whether its before the fight, after a round has ended, or after the fight completely, it was 8 seconds outside of the allotted time.

I know your supposed to fight to the bell, ,But incompetence should not be a factor, had the ref stopped the fight, the fight would have been ruled a NC as they cant list Johnson the winner by TKO at 5:06 of the first round.

Can't say fairer than that!
