LAS VEGAS – The UFC will try out a new broadcast pairing on Saturday for UFC 155 – though that wasn't the plan until this week.

An illness will keep regular pay-per-view play-by-play voice Mike Goldberg at home, and Jon Anik will join analyst Joe Rogan in the broadcast booth.

UFC officials on Friday confirmed the change to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

This could be very interesting. I don't like Goldberg and never really have. Aink and Florian don't do it for me together either. I am however, a big Rogan fan and I think mixing him up with someone else could be a good thing. I guess we'll see tomorrow.

Anik never gets excited when fights are finished and just never shows enough enthusiasm.

Would rather have Goldie any day

They just updated it. Goldberg isn't sick, he's just taking time off.

"He's taking time off and is not working this weekend," White said. "I don't know when he will be back."

I like Anik and he is like the opposite of Rogan. I am interested to hear them two work together

I'm not the biggest Goldie fan, but I like him a helluva lot better than Anik so I hope he gets back soon.

I think Anik is awesome from a journalistic point of view, guy really knows his shit, but I'm not feeling his lack of expressed passion. He's just too passive, too canned for me to really get behind him as an announcer. Good point in that he might work well with Rogan, and it'll be interesting to see how it plays.

I'm with you guys on the Goldberg-isms. The man's made a persona that practically mocks itself, and he tends to latch onto terms or maneuvers like "teep" and "Octagon rust."

That said, Goldie's enthusiasm is considerably more apparent, and he's actually quite good at filling the gaps and transitioning between point to point. Sure, he flubs a bit and should be taken to task for those, but it's a harder job than most give it credit for. He also engages Rogan a lot when it comes to the in-depth analysis, and he's typically been smooth about being corrected or when presenting a differing perspective.

Provided Goldie's healthy and didn't, like, have sex with a minor, I'll listen to him call the ball, warts and all.

(also, I hate not being able to props anyone in the thread because I've props'd them so recently. I get why, just...grr)

Might take a bit of heat for this but I'd much rather have Goldberg.Anik is a bore on commentary and in a way feels like he has a lack of passion for the sport.

Dana declined to comment on the absence. Something more is going on.

I like Anik but it seems more like a job rather than a passion. With all Goldberg's shortcomings, It seems (to me at least) that he has a genuine passion for the sport

I've said it a million times, Anik is good taped (see: Old MMA LIVE on ESPN) but live he just isn't that good. I've also said it a million times, the UFC needs Todd Harris on the commentary.

I'd love to see them pair up Joe Rogan and the Voice. I think they would jive well together. I also thought Pat Millitich (spell check) was awesome and incredibly knowledgable. Big fan of Bas too but he can sometimes be too absorbed in the fight to talk.

Weird, I read that Bas Rutten was in for Goldie the other day, but I guess his account was hacked. But then he actually pulls out.

I think of him as a poor man's Bob Costas, would much rather have ass biting, cross dressing Marv Albert anyday

Im always excited about different combinations of commentators. It'll sure make the night more interesting. But if someone throws a teep kick I'll be thinking of Goldberg.

Anyone except Goldberg. The guy's been doing this how long and still comes off like he doesn't know what he's talking about half the time?

Not a fan of Goldberg, but even less of a fan of Anik. You have the expertise in Rogan and it needs a balance. Just like in the Florian/Anik team, Goldberg/Rogan play off one another with one sounding a hell of a lot more knowledgable than the other. Submission attempts is where that shines. As awesome as Bas and Rogan would be, I actually think Harris would be a good balance to Rogan.

I also thought it was pretty suspicious when Dana said, "I don't know when he'll be back." Somethings up
