Hey guys! My Dad wants to figure out a betting pool for the main card for tomorrow's UFC 167. Now I was thinking doing a similar one to this site, points scored for predicted winner, round, and method of victory, and I even found a good little card to fill out on a facebook page.
But I was kind of thinking I might have a bit of an unfair advantage because I have been doing this for quite a while. There are about 10 of us and I guaruntee nobody knows who Tim Elliot and Ali Bagautinov are but I know they know the rest of 'em. I was just wondering if anyone has tried any simpleish betting pools with casual fans that have been good before? Any input is helpful, thanks guys!

Just handicap yourself

Give yourself a negative 25 points. To start with
While everyone had zero.

Per-event betting pools... good idea

Give them the real life betting odds if they don't know. That fight is close to 50/50 anyways.

Using this sites scoring system is good enough, unless you want to alter the points

Go win loss of viewed fights, first viewed fight = 1 point, second = 2, etc...tally up the winner via points, in case of a tie (or to prevent one) give an extra point if they can get the method correct as well for the three main / biggest fights in their opinion.

I used to set up a white board and run it the same way this site does. Either that or just get some fool hardy fan to make a bad bet (Penn vs Sanchez was a great one for me)
