Former World Wrestling Entertainment Champion and Hall Of Famer Bret "The Hitman" Hart recently gave a Canadian website an interview where he talked about MMA. He said he does like it, but he seems not to like the more violent aspects of it when compared to wrestling.

There are alot more problems with Death and Drugs in Pro Wrestling then in MMA so i dont know what kind of point he is trying to make in this article.

There was another quote from that interview they failed to post, but I'll give you all an exclusive!

The Hitman: "I also really like knitting, but I prefer crocheting, because I feel the dull end of a crochet hook is -so- much safer than those nasty, dangerous kntting needles!"
<editors note: The Hitman then left the interview for crumpets and tea, due to it being a few minutes past noon>

For a pure wrestling family like the Harts to be saying anything positive about MMA is huge. They shit on everything that didnt come out of the Hart Dungeon.

Bret saying that he likes it is equivalent to the average guy going nuts about it, in my opinion. Doesnt surprise me too much though, as the Harts were a bunch of shooters originally.

Nice find, thanks.

Hart thinks mma is so violent, yet he's the one who got kicked in the head and forced to retire. Oh yeah, not to mention had a ******* stroke due to the kick. Wrestling is way more hazardous to your health than mma.

What impact is this supposed to have? Him and all his friends have become junkies or are dead or worse. We shouldn't have the same problems in 25 yrs as the wrestling fans have now. There is an inherent violent danger in fighting. There isn't supposed to be in what he did and those guys are in way more danger.

I'd bet Hogan loves it, and could come up with "100 reasons" he should be brought in as a hero/originator to "fight" once... or whatever reason he has to make money now. Once he got control of the name he'll schill to anything..

I've heard Hogan talking about MMA a little on the Bubba The Love Sponge show. Bubba and his buddies are big MMA and wrestling fans, but Hogan seriously believes UFC matches are fixed. He calls them, "work-shoots." Silly old fool.

Bret Hart, like many pro wrestlers, is a guy who seems to take his sport and his reputation more seriously than necessary. I'm sure he thinks he and his family would have done well in MMA if they had chosen to.

Hart is a guy I have a lot of respect for.But like someone mentioned above, with all the bad going on in wrestling, even if those fights are fix,the way Pro wrestlers are diying is crazy.

I think, in the long run, you can safely say that probably 75% of the deaths of wrestlers at a younger age are directly related to one cause... Vince McMahon.

I know it kind of sounds crazy, but it's true. He is the one that set the standard of 300 days a year to work... He is the one that started pushing huge roid freaks to the top, while smaller, but better wrestlers sat... Other promotors followed suit, but he was the one to push the wrestlers that hard first. With 300 days a year working, and, regardless of the guys on here that say there is no pain/injury in pro wrestling, the amount of damage your body takes... They use uppers, downers, and in betweeners to keep up with the schedule. Plus, theyre on the road, so they usually ruin their personal lives, and the majority took recreational drugs and drank a ton.

These aspects of the business coupled with steroid use (after all, if youre not huge, you dont stay on TV, you lose your job) ... These guys are wrecks for the most part. Like I said, every company runs this way now, but they didnt used to. Look at all the real old school guys, they are still with us. Lawler, Harley Race, Flair... The list goes on and on. They partied as hard as anyone, but they had time off, and they didnt take steroids back then. The demand for the guy to show up, bigger than the night before, and then to ask him to do it all again 5-6 days a week, all year long... thats too much to ask.

Vince should be ashamed of himself, sitting in all the money that those guys made for him.

Call me crazy. I'm a huge mma fan. When i can't watch mma I can find plenty of things such as Real wrestling, boxing, and kickboxing on TV among other real martial arts to watch. I'm aware of the Japanese connection between mma and shoot wrestling. That said, its really annoying when any pro wrestling is even mentioned on a site like this. I stopped watching pro wrestling after my first day of real wrestling. LETS FOCUS ON SPORT.....at least on this site.

Glad to hear your opinion, unfortunately for you there are plenty of people who like both. If you hate it so much, why stop into this thread just to tell us?

Just because you dont like something doesnt mean that you have to judge the people who do like it...

lol..Not trying to hurt peoples feelings....just hate seeing anything pro wrestling creep into American mma. I want to see the best fighters fight. Just saw Bob Sapp will be fighting in Strike force. Do you really think Bob Sapp really deserves to headline a card. How about Kimo Slice. Or an unproven Brock Lesner (he might be legit, but right off the bat). Do i really want to listen to Bill Goldberg give play by play. How much of a treat will it be to see Fedor fight a Hong Man Choi. Garbage!!!

Well, hate to break it to you, but the world is a big place. Get used to sharing it.

EDIT: Your list was a little confusing, since you listed two football players (originally), a kickboxer, a two time national amateur wrestling champion, and a street fighter... Money only brought these guys to wrestling, so it sounds like your problem is with all sports non-mma. Guess thats your opinion.

I think you and I watch MMA for different reasons. I feel pro wrestling and mma don't belong in the same sentence. You must feel different. I'm just hoping I'm not in the minority. I can't hold my tounge...lol...Grown men watching WWE is just plain stupid. And watching it creep into my favorite sport is grueling.

I have massive respect for anyone who can be on the road 365 days a year putting on a show for millions of people worldwide, I think as far as athleticism and fitness goes professional wrestling has some of the top athles. However I think the quality of wrestling as a show has gone down in the past 3 or 4 years. I already thought it was pretty dumb John Cena held the title for 2 years, but then they brought in Vicky Guerrero, whos husband hadn't even been dead for more than 7 months, and turned her into a 'heel' character. Talk about pissing on a man's grave. I tried watching TNA but its like watching WWE-lite, only with more washed up guys from the early/mid-90s. Oh yay, another Sting vs Jeff Jarret match

Ole stings still kicking?! Wrestling is a terrible terrible thing, people were up in arms when mma had it's first loss of life, but you look at the WWE, Yokozuna(they encouraged him to be huge), the british bulldog, Chris benoit, and the list goes on of people who died because of that sport. It saddens me, I used to be a die hard Goldberg fan.

TNA brings in all the old WWF / WCW stars. Kevin Nash, Sting, and more recently Razor Ramon

Allright flamecaptain, simmer down. If you can't hold your tongue maybe it's better to not look at forums cause who knows - you might not be in the majority! Then you'd be out there in the big wide world all alone with nothing but your opinion to cover your KY Jelly slathered genitalia.

I'm glad there are SERIOUS mma fans like yourself to keep the sport pure and clean. Cause UFC and other fighting leagues need serious KY aficionados like yourself to toe that line in the sand and keep the sport pure.

Maybe Dana can give you a purity-police type job and you could patrol every MMA forum on the internet, keeping those "stupid" pro wresting fans from posting on our holy mma sites. Cause we all know that can't be watching OUR sport for the right reasons.

Get 'em tiger.
