I agree UFC all the way.
I don't think gomi could take many of the UFC's top LW fighters (especially, sherk, penn, Tyson, and ect) other then getting a big hook landing flush. Sherk, Tyson would take him down pretty easy imo, and bj would most likely get a submission win again.
I've always thought gomi has been a bit overrated, but he is still a outstanding fighter though.
I'm not saying heros LW division sucks, but I think the UFC has them.

BJ has already defeated Gomi before and I see him beating him again if they fought. Kid is a great fighter but he is a natural 145lbs and someone like Sherk would just overpower him and get him to the ground. I know Kid is an amazing wrestler but Sherk has the size advantage (on top of his great wrestling skills).

kid is the man, i think he could knock sherk out without even being "controlled" for five rounds. the ufc needs a featherweight division just so they can put kid in it.

Jeez I always thought that match between Sherk and Daiz was pretty dam close not a "ass whooping" and by the way MMAth doesnt't work Gomi is a terrible match-up for Sherk is as big strong and better striker that can stop take downs. Also Shoalin would eat Sherk's face as would "Kid"

I don't see a Penn(that's motivated) or Sherk losing to any of those fighters. Sherk is a huge LW and Penn is Penn.
Hero's may be a little deeper in the 3,4,5 spots though, but I don't think that makes up for the fact that the top 2 are in the UFC. Plus the UFC division a a whole i deeper.

I would just like to say that I love this topic and the LW division.
First or all, Sherk is the man. I don't think he has any weakness at LW. He's big and dominate even if people think he is boring (I don't). He went five rounds with the WW champ and his only other loss was to another former WW champ.
I, admittedly, don't know much about the Hero's LWs, but I hear good things. I have seen Gomi fight several time and was not impressed. He's good, but I think he would get owned by a handful of the UFC LWs. Sherk, BJ, Tavares, Griffin, Guida, and Thomas. I think they would be good fights, but at the end of the day Gomi would get beaten. A great match would be Franca v. Gomi. There styles would make it an instant classic. Florian v. Gomi would also be a great fight. I think that if Gomi were in the UFC he would be in title contention, but wouldn't win it. Gomi will be the yard stick by which the Hero's LW division is measured.
I will go with the UFC unless Gomi gets buried by the Hero's LWs.

Well I do not think Tavares/Griffin/Guida or Thomas could beat Gomi..Sherk has a chance and BJ would beat him. The Hero's LW division is really stacked though..Shaolin is top 10...JZ is top 10....Uno is top 15-20 (not as good as he used to be sadly) Kid is top 10...Gomi is top 5
UFC has Sherk and BJ who are both top 10 and both probably now top 5. They do have a handfull of people that are so close to being top 10..like Stevenson/Thomas/Griffin/Aurelio/Edgar and so on.
