When the Hell is Sherk going to fight??

The UFC is turning into PRIDE with the lightweights. When the hell are we going to get a title defense?

When he returns from injury?

Sherk has a title defense penciled in for UFC 73, July 7th. Like nate22 says, he's been rehabbing an injury - he had rotator-cuff surgery after his fight with Kenny Florian. Some places say that he needed the surgery before fighting Florian, and he did seem to struggle in that fight.

Incidentally, UFC 73 is looking like a decent card, with Sherk-Franca, Anderson Silva-Nate Marquardt and Tito Ortiz-Rashad Evans.

It depends on the exact surgery that was performed and the stress put on the shoulder (in your sport), but recovery from rotator cuff surgery can take as much as 6 months to a year. I think baseball pitchers who have rotator cuff surgery are generally considered to be done for a year, and don't get back to full ability for another year after that. I think you're even supposed to avoid things like swimming, bowling, and golf for 3-4 months.

Yeah, I'm actually worried for Sherk, as even if hes all healed up, that has to have taken a huge chunk out of his training time, and with the amount of great fighters flooding into that division, he can't afford to come back at less than 100% or hes going to lose his strap for sure. I don't think Franca can do it, but theres a few who can.
