I was kind of blown away by all the booing when Josh Neer won tonight. He might not be the most personable guy but he brought it big time and put on a heck of a show. Anyone who has followed Josh's career knows that he always shows up to fight and is as tough as anyone in MMA.

Any haters out there care to explain themselves?

Well I'm no hater, I thought he had a great fight, and the showboatting(which is why a few people I know got mad) was okay by me, people should just stop overeacting to/at it.

I'm not a big fan of showboating either, I think it's pretty disrespectful, although when I heard him explain afterwards that he was upset about a headbutt that wasn't called it made more sense and seemed a bit more understandable to me. Sometimes when you're upset and feel that you were wronged in some way you don't really care about being sportsmanlike anymore. I'm sure Mac didn't headbutt him on purpose though.

Hmm... somebody not get their nap today?

Have I started a thread like this ever before?

You got a problem?

Anyways, back to the topic... I can see why someone would get upset about the showboating, but I thought in this case it was good strategy. Neer wanted to close the distance and make it a war he could win. By taunting Mac he took him out of his game.

The booing had me confused. For a moment I was beginning to question whether we were in Danzigs hometown or something. Possibly just a bunch of TUF fans in the audience?

I guess Neer picked up a little something from Nate Diaz in their last bout. I personally like it. I don't really see it as showboating though--it's like a taunt--you know c'mon and bring it. Well he did, and he absolutely ran right through Danzig. I mean he had absolutely no respect for Danzig's power.

Hopefully he'll get some love on the forums, because that was an awesome performance tonight.

I don't understand the booing either. I have always been a Neer fan. He always brings the fight.

Neer totally impressed me. I knew he was dangerous off of his back I just didn't think Mac would fall into a triangle and twice at that.
Neer is always looking to bring the fight and I enjoy a bit of the inviting in of Mac and I don't really see it as taunting. He just wanted him to bring it. Isn't that what it's about??

I like neer but he acted like a DICK, multiple times.....he wouldnt touch gloves at one point, he taunted the whole time etc. I lost respect for him because of this fight.

why do u guys have a problem with the taunting?

its a fight tactic, and its entertaining

They didn't start booing him until Danzig went to touch gloves and he wouldn't do it. I like Neer, that was a damn good fight, but that's probably what did it.

I didnt think his "taunting" was bad at all. All he really was doing was walking in towad Mac with his chin first. mac could have ending the taunting but instead kept backing up. Whatever , I think Neer is going to be a force to reckon with. His BJJ looked great last night, and the guy is tough as nails. For his next fight i would loveto see him fight Guida, and beat him.

i thought Neer was awesome. he showed he was just all around the superior fighter. beat Mac on the feet, in the clinch, and on the ground. overall outstanding performance by Neer. i say he fights Guida next.

I love Josh Neer! The guy always puts on great fights plus I picked him to win over Danzig, who is overated He's got a great well rounded game, and always brings the fight to whoever he's facing.

I think as a TUF winner Danzig just had the crowd behind him, so they were pissed to see him get caught in a sub. As for the taunting, I didn't even think it was that bad. He just held his arms up a bit. If Rashad can grab his crotch and then kiss his hand I dont see the problem in what Neer did.

At some point, I think Neer atually felt bad for Danzig, and even tried to even things up by giving himself a few pops...what a guy .

Meh.. at this point I've come to realize that 90% of the people in a crowd at any MMA event are just TUF'er type fans.

On another note- this fight IMO was an early FOTY type. Awesome action with both guys bringing it. Danzig's standup combinations had me nervous in the first couple minutes, but Neer toughed it out and owned the fight

he was showboating before that, right when the fight started he was doing stuff with his hands and show boating, when i see that i just want to see the guy get blasted, i like neer, he is as tough as anybody but i didn't like all that crap, he isn't accomplished enough to hot dog and not hear it from the fans.

that was my favorite fight of the night , anyone who wins by triangle i go crazy. Neer had the right to showboat he was tooling him the entire time. mac started to play the same game but neer showed him how its done =) but mac talks a lot of smack so he deserved it =)

I tried to prop you as well but GSTL...this had me laughing last night.

I think they booed him because nobody likes The Dentist. But seriously, I never liked him before either, but if he keeps handing people their asses like he did to Danzig I'll like him in no time.

Agreed, the guy wasn't being cocky he was upset that Danzig wouldn't come in and trade with him at the time.

They are fighters man. Josh is a cocky kind of fighter, it happens. you see a lot of a fighters personality when they fight. Mac is more cerebral type fighter.
