A teenage hacker who helped reroute the UFC's website and take down several high-profile websites has been sentenced to six years of probation, according to a Wired report.

The hacker, who is identified by his pseudonym "Cosmo," pleaded guilty to charges of credit-card fraud, identity theft, bomb threats and online impersonation in exchange for probation.

The 15-year-old Cosmo was among 24 arrested in June following an FBI sting that targeted cybercriminals.

HAHAHA

Limited from using the internet. I'd limit him from playing with his balls too

Good luck enforcing either of those, you'd have about equal chance.

It's not that hard considering he's on probation, a P.O. can show up to his residence at any time to check on him, if there's anything he can access the internet from in his house, then he can get his probation revoked....

Proxies only work for the jumps beyond them. They are far from bulletproof.

You don't understand the point of probation do you? It is neither intended nor expected to keep people from doing something they want to do. If they want to completely restrict your access to something they have a cool little program that is the opposite of probation, it's called jail. Probation allows someone to suspend their sentence and remain free with that time they would have spent in jail over their heads in hopes that it is enough incentive to stay out of trouble. Restricting access to the internet is no different than restricting alcohol use while on probation. They can tell you a thousand times that you can't go to a bar/restaurant/ anywhere that serves alcohol and that you can't have alcohol in your house or possession but what's stopping you from going to your buddies house and getting hammered? Even with a probation officer checking in, it's not hard to do and the courts know this. Probation puts you in control of your own fate, sure it's not hard to get around but you have to decide whether risking it is worth going to jail for and that's the point.

Everyone know's what a fucking proxy is. Get over yourself.

Alright, everyone needs to calm down. It's just a conversation on the internet. If I have to delete any more posts, I'll just lock the thread.

Also, Mr. Letter Jacket, there will be no flipping of boats.

Tell these old cranky gals to relax on their respective rags. I've been a little high the last two days and I'm teasing.

But seriously, I want probation so I can test this internet banning thing.
