According to the UFC WEBSITE FIGHT CARD PAGE that fight is the swing bout and NOT the Okami/Mac fight as expected, this is probably a good thing as this LW fight will likely be much more exciting than the MW fight - even if it is quite important between 2 top ranked UFC fighters

like most of Okami's fights it would most likely go to a 3rd round and just not be as fast paced or exciting as this fight will be so for me this is a good thing and i will just watch the Okami fight on ufc on demand or wherever afterwards

this fight is for no1 contendership isnt it? okami is no houston alexander, but i'd still rather see this on the main card because of the talent, and significance fo the fight. Does this mean we're gonna have to watch okami vs silva for the belt on ufc on demand as well?

I know for a fact that the LWs usually put on more exciting fights, and that's why I like watching them, but I think that Okami and MacDonald should be on the main card regardless.
This is a good match-up, IMO, so chances are that this fight could be very exciting. Even if it's not as axciting as I expect it to be, it is still an important match in the MW division, so I really think that it should be aired.

Well this is the very rare occasion where the UFC do something outside of popular opinion and i agree with them, it isnt definately for the next title shot as Hendo could still drop down or something but its so sure to be a boring and/or sloppy fight they just dont wanna risk stinking up the main card with it
Okami aint no Machida tho and the 3rd rd should be good so maybe they could just show that? or if its a quick fight they will still show it as the 1 prelim they normally show

says somthinng about the MW division when a fight dana has said could be a number 1 contender match isnt even being aired. I could understand if it was an exciting fight that was being aired instead, but as much as i like gurgel his fights are some of the most boring fights ive seen, and always come down to a decision.

what a joke, two lightweights who will not EVER be in title contention over a potential number one contender middle weight match, what a joke.

This is rediculous... OK, I'll admit, I'm a little biased because of my disdain for Gurgel... I just don't get how he keeps getting work? I understand that he's a better than average JJ instructor, but c'mon!!!
And to replace a 'possible' contender fight for the MW division that is in dire need of something... anything to happen (besides Anderson Silva destroying everything in site)... ughhhh *\slap myself in the forehead/*
Wait, I think I just figured it out... Neither J-Mac or Okami have been on the Ultimate fighter... That must be it...
Robinson got owned and Gurgel hasn't impressed at all. Okami deserves to be on TV. If you don't like slick grapplers watch Toughman.

Jorge Gurgel is overrated for barely beating his last two fighters. Hes getting dominated tongiht...

except tomorrow night for me, yes feel sorry for us you lucky yanks!
Robinson probably has better BJJ than Gurgel, his fight bjj is overrated and Kid will easily control him with his superior wrestling and win a decent UD

damn im good!!!!!!!!!!!!! and on both counts, this was a much better fight to watch and the Okami fight was exactly as i thought it would be, pretty dull
Tho if you need Okami to fight Silva next then the marketing will be tricky, but maybe Silva has that enigma now that any casual fan would be happy to pay to see him fight anybody
