Guillard (20-6-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC), who was submitted via guillotine choke in just 27 seconds, tested positive for cocaine metabolite, according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which conducted the test.

wow, this is starting to happen way too often, not with cocaine, but with anything illegal. i would really like to see 4 or 5 events in a row where no one is stupid enough to get caught on a drug test prefight. i have a feeling that ufc, pride, wec, and maybe the other smaller orgs are going to take a stand soon and there will be major penalties handed down directly from them and not just the different state commisions very soon.

That's the only way they will be able to stop these guys from doing drugs and crap -- tougher penalties.

I don't get it, these guys know they they are most likely going to be tested before or after the fight. Do you think they try to mess with the tests somehow? And how would you go about doing that?

I know really. Like Sanchez getting a $500 dollar fine and 3 month suspension. He was gonna spedn 3 months training for his next fight anyways. And $500 is nothing.
They should make the fines at a minimum of $5000. That would teach the fighters a lesson. And for repeat offenders the fine should double every time.

Joe Rogan was right, UFC is becoming like the NFL

for the marijuana tests i bet all those guys drink some of that shit that gets all the weed out of your system, works about 50 % of the time, i bet alot of guys smoke it occasionally and dont get caught because of it, even look at diegos myspace page he is in love with bob marley, definately a weed smoker

some of these fighters only make like 5,000$-10,000. A 500$ penalty is 10% I think if they decided to start paying their fighters more they'd have less incidents.

Melvin only made $7,000 and we was in the main event

i really dont see the problem with how harsh penalties are for drug use

not only did they ban nick diaz from fighting for 6 months but he also got his win against takanori gomi switched to a no decision because marijuana might of helped the pain

**** it they are guys, and its not like the nfl or nba where they get paid tons of money to keep their bodies clean

melvin guillard made like $7000 for that fight, **** who cares if he sniffed a little yay before he got his ass tapped out

hes probably gonna get into some big shit for it too

cocaine & weed are not legal because the best weed & cocaine doesn't come from u.s.

but anyways so what if they were found with shit in their system, it's not like they were doing it in their corner between rounds

"ok diaz take it to the head, hold it, hold it, holddd it"

Unfortunately we will be seeing a whole lot more of this!! This is just the begining of many, many positive drug tests. I know for a fact that The California Athletic Commission just started their new drug testing program which includes their goal of 24 steriod tests and 100 "street drug" tests per month!! It's all on their web site. This is also going to affect boxers, not just MMA.

UFC only paid him 7000. But i bet his sponsors paid him a shitload for being in hte prime fight that everyone wanted to see.

And if he makes so little why is he blowing his money away on coke?
I got a better idea. The fighter should be fined the amount of money he got paid by that org.

Im sure diego would mind paying his 30k. And he would make sure not to do it again.

Guillard = Moron

Most atheletes take cocaine at the weekends knowing it will be flushed out of your system in 24hours and it is also hard to detect unlike other drugs like weed. He knew he would more than likely be tested the next day and obviously didn't give a shit. The dumb f**k must have been sniffing a line the night before his fight.

I'm not into drugs at all and i think there should be a tougher penalty for drug use in mma, even worse than Nick Diaz, they should set up Punishments that will follow after drug use and they should never change. Maybe something like if you won the match make it a NC and suspended for a year, although i dont see how coke would enhance your fight game unless it was how he cut weight.. lol
