Still top 10? he got beat twice by two guys who aren't the most notable opponents, i think he drops out at the time with the weight class being so competitive. if he wants back in he has to ditch wvr and sign with dream or ufc because their lw divisions are stacked.

he was out of my top 10 after his last lost. he hasn't defeated a top 10 LW in over 2 years and then loses twice; once to a no name who no one really ever heard of.

however, the way Kitaoka fought in this tournament i have to say that he has an argument for a top 10 spot himself.

Gomi is no longer top 10 but Kitaoka definitely deserves a spot in the top 10. Satoru's performance in the tournament was impressive.

Gomi has failed to evolve with the sport like many of the older top ten guys (some that are still remarkably ranked) to include Liddell and Wandy....sad but true IMO.

I still have Gomi clinging to life in the top 10. If he keeps this up though, not for much longer.

I put Kitoaka in there though, the guys looked awesome.

A little off topic, but I also put Santiago in the top 10 as well after last night, very impressed by him lately as well.

When will people finally put this "Gomi in the top 10" to rest? What does he have to do to prove to you guys that he's no where near top 10 material anymore?!? Yes, I know...he was pretty amazing in the past....but IMO, those days are long gone.

He is 2 - 3 in his last 5 (yes, I give Diaz the win!). His two wins were not impressive AT ALL, and his three losses were despicable. His last fight was one of the easier fights for me to pick on the entire card (Kitaoka by sub). I didn't even think twice about it.

IMO, he's no where near top 10, maybe not even top 20 anymore.

Gomi went to a decision with a can and won, lost a decision to another can and got tooled by a guy who while not a can is no Hansen or Penn. He's been out of my top 10 for a while actually

I don't have Gomi in the top ten any longer, but he's still on the fringe. He has lost two in a row, but everyone who watched the Sergey Golyaev fight knows that was a poor decision, and Satoru Kitaoka is a top ten fighter.

I think dynamic submission specialists have always been Gomi's crux. He spent much too long in bad positions, stalling at times while Kitaoka had him inposition for leg lock. Gomi would find safe spots, but if you leave your foot out there eventually Satoru is going to be able to do something with it.

Satoru doesn't get the top ten love because he doesn't have quite the exposure of other fighters, but he's actually been a ery good fighter for a long time. He has victories over Carlos Condit, Kurt Pellegrino, Paul Daley--and now Eji Mitsuoka and Gomi. I would say he is probably the poor man's version of his training partner Shinya Aoki. That's not a knock on Satoru, Shinya just does everything Satoru does slightly better. I currently have Satoru ranked #4.

It was GREAT seeing him get submitted, I wish I could see more of that.

out of the top ten but still a very talented and skilled fighter. a win or two against good competition and he's right back in the ranking mix i think.

After Gomi's performance at Sengoku 7 I would definately say his is not only out of the tep 10, but he is very close to being finished!!!

I guess 2009 will tell all!!!

I think he's a little overrated.

I have Kitaoka in Gomi's spot as number 10.

Gomi was accused a few time of being a paper champ in Pride.
IMHO Diaz's Win should not have been ruled a NC.
His ship is sinking fast and needs a win in an impressive fashion over some decent competition.
As far as Kitaoka is concerned I think he has a bright future and hopefully can step up to some decent competition.

Sadly he dropped out of my top 20 even although he was still hanging on the a low top 10 spot before his last fight.
