Sorry all, posting from my phone means that I cannot make the above a single link, but it is note worthy still. Essentially Gilbert Yvel is now retired from MMA.

This is a bit surprising to me. He was looking new and improved at LHW but he hasn't fought in well over a year and I was wondering where he went.

Happy birthday Gilbert and have a nice retirement!

He's been in some great fights throughout his career. I'll never forget how devastating his head kick ko over Gary Goodridge was. I'll miss watching him in the cage/ring.

Still one of the greatest knockouts ever. Dropping Big Daddy (a still very dangerous one at that) was just down right scary.

I was able to see Gilbert fight live a few times in the Ufc.
Sorry to see him gone. Thought 205 was the way to go

The guy was a real good striker, wish he was younger and learned how to wrestle...bangers like him are rare to come by.

every referee can breath a sigh of relief. i hate to say it but he may have been the dirtiest fighter in the history of MMA/kickboxing. i know he kept his nose clean in the last few years but his reputation had been handed to him a long time ago.
