During Wednesday’s media conference call, EliteXC Live Events President Gary Shaw fielded a number of questions about the organization’s Feb. 16 main event between Kimbo Slice and David “Tank” Abbott. However, he discussed a number of other issues, including his recent media feud with UFC President Dana White.

Gary Shaw is just jalous !!
and Jake Shield would be destroy by any top 10 in the UFC !!
Kimbo would be humiliate by any top 20 UFC HW fighters !!
the guys is so ridiculous !!
Those Club champs that he talk about are not going to fight low level competition guys just to prove that they are good !!

Shaw
I gotta agree. The UFC champs have proven to be some of the best. Why doesn't Shaw let some of his fighters sign with the UFC for a couple of fights and see how they stack up with the UFC's elite.
Heck I like StrikeForce better than EliteXC, this guy has to say something but this is such a dumb frickin statement that it pisses me off, just shut your month until you get some credibility, UFC is not just a brand right now because the general public that just watches the events or the tv series does not say MMA they say UFC and call MMA fighters Ultimate Fighters and so do a lot of media outlets, Mr. Shaw all of your goomba talk is not going to change public sediment so save it and your dignity in the process, you are a kid in a man's world

LOL...I like what one of the replies on that link was: "Dana should just send is WEC guys over there and take Shaws money"
Yeah...that would kinda shut him up!

Another good reply was "This is like an arena league football team calling out the Patriots.
I think you could go down to...5th, 10th, 15th best fighter in UFC in any given weight class & they would own the "champs" in EXC...not to even -mention- Champ vs. Champ. C'mon...GSP, Rampage, Penn (or Stevenson or Sherk), Randy, Anderson Silva...good grief, it would be a bloodbath (which, by the way, I'd certainly pay to see, LOL)

Gary Shaw is like Dana...he, to quote Fedor, talks too much. Just typical trash talk to get EXC closer to UFC's level.
but Dana can back it up and Gary Shaw cannot should even replying is silly

I cancled showtime and uped my basic package to get versus I didn't like elitexc and wanted to give wec a try.
I would say EliteXC is better than WEC if you are looking for names but the last WEC event had some great LW fights while XC has the same weight as the UFC. I am glad I do not have to choose our cable comes with VS

Oh, Gary Shaw, you magnificent man...nobody will see through your kindergarten psychology. You must've seen how well it worked out for Dennis Rodman when he called out the UFC. It's funny that some of Shaw's most marketable fighters were booted from the UFC for losing too many fights.
Shaw is just trying to be as inflamatory as he can be. Its all about publicity and getting his Brand out in the media.

I can't believe what I'm hearing, a promoter talking crap? That never happens.
I know it happens I just find it funny how ridulous his crap talk is, I just think battling with the smaller orgs lkike the WEC would be a better idea than taking on the UFC

Elite is building its roster off of UFC Drop outs, Though i love those fighters its only a matter of time before the fighters of the WEC are loved more...

What I'd really like to see is all the major orgs get together once a year and hold a winner takes all 8 man tournament, like what they do in K-1. They could all agree on a single weight class for that particular year and all send 1 guy to represent their org in the tournament (preferably their champ).
So for example for HW you could have UFC, EliteXC, Strikeforce, Cage Rage, KOTC, M1, WEC, and K-1 Heroes all send one guy to rep their org in the tournament. The winning fighter get's the million dollar purse, the 8 different orgs split all ticket revenue and worldwide PPV profits.
Unfortunately this will never happen.
i wish the ufc woulkd excercise its power and just proove to all the secondary league fight companies that they are the best and would/ will destroy them

Ok....
Big Nog 1st Rd sub over Kimbo
Rampage smokes whoever by 1st round KO
Anderson Silva 1st Rd KO over Robbie
GSP Unanimous Decision over Jake Shields
Joe Daddy 1st Rd sub over Noons
UFC would sweep them. The hardest challenge is Jake Shields and that's because Jake is probably the #1 non-UFC WW in the world. He'd wipe the floor with half the UFC WW's. The new Fitch and GSP would beat him thought but he'd spank everybody else. The rest of that company sucks besides Maybe Nick Diaz but even he's too cocky and took Noons lightly.
This guy should shut his mouth. The UFC does own the best fighters

The only ones they don't have are Fedor, JZ, Shinya, Jake, and Nick.

Barnett, Kid, Hunt, Aleks, Arona, Misaki, Kang, Manhoef, Overeem, Kharitonov, Ribero, Akiyama, Lindland, wow all these great names and I could still go on. The UFC is missing quite a few great fighters, they are far from having everyone.

Sorry Dana White fan club, Gary SHaw is right. UFC has a good product and a solid brand---but that's ALL it is. He doesn't own MMA and certainly doesn't own the best shows. (have you seen a few lately?...yawn)
MMA is exploding and growing, in part because of the UFC but not exclusively because of the UFC. The more competing organizations there are the better. But what will make the UFC great will not be big strong organizations, but the ability for champs to fight each other across organizations. If there were an outside organization or regulatory body that gave true championships, it would be better. We complain about boxing because the best fighters dont fight each other----that's changing---but guess what, because of money, that is starting to happen in MMA as well. Primarily, it is happening because the UFC wants exclusivity with their fighters and when they don't get it, they disparage and downplay the fighter...or sue them. Nice.
Guess what, it won't work. MMA is a good product and lots of people will come along and learn great ways to package it. There is no way the UFC will own a monopoly on it--and there shouldn't be.

I don't care much for monopolies myself but I think its pretty much safe to say the UFC has the US market locked up right now. I think Lorenzo Fertitta said it best when he said.
"A lot of people talk about the growth of MMA. I don’t believe in that. I don’t know where anybody can show me there is this great success in MMA outside of the UFC. There has been explosive growth for the UFC, but MMA in general, nobody is making a breakthrough. The biggest non-UFC pay-per-view, you might know better than me, but it’s something like 25,000, maybe 30,000 buys. There is a bit of a misnomer there. It’s not the growth of MMA. It’s the growth of the UFC."
You avg US fan thinks MMA is the UFC.

It don't seem like Gary Shaw is really helping himself out by doing all this.He should focus on making his promotion solid, and quit trying to gain attention by calling out the UFC.The UFC would really have little to gain by going out against Elite XC as of now.If anything,it would help out Elite XC more than it would the UFC.From Zuffa's standpoint,I can see were they would discard anything Shaw is saying at this point.
I will say this in defense of Elite XC though.I think they are placing some of thier pieces quiet well in the world of mixed martial arts.If I remember correctly,in an interview sometime last week,Dana White remarked on how it's difficult to market and hold events in Europe.Later in the week it was announced that Elite XC had purchased an MMA promotion out of Europe and planned on holding events in the UK very soon.
They then go and sign Ken Shamrock. Now while I can understand any mma fans standpoint on "why in the hell is Shamrock fighting again",from Elite XC's standpoint it's probably a very profitable move.Ken was one of the biggest drawing names for the UFC,and you can bet Shaw is banking on Shamrock making his promotion a lot of money.
If my facts are right,I think as a promotion,Elite XC does show some promise in terms of how much profit they may gain down the road.Even if they are taking the UFC's leftovers.
