i know it will never happen but i think a good TUF would be,

to take 16 people who have never fought but want to.
have them train for 6 months with some champions and top contenders from all the weight classes and top trainers of UFC fighters (trainers will very depending on their fight schedule) who will have the teams set up ahead of time to even up the talent/potential then start the show.
no soap opera crap. show clips of their 6 months of training, their progression, then their fight preperation training.
first round losers go home for good. second round losers go to a losers bracket (they get one more shot to make it 2 out of 3 to make sure the first win or loss wasnt a fluke).
the 2 finalists main event the TUF finally. the 2 from the losers bracket main event the next fight night. the winner from the losers bracket takes on the TUF winner at the next PPV
the winner gets a 1 year 2 fight contract.
since theyre real people leaving their livelyhood for that long of a time every fighter gets compensated some type of $.
every one past the first round earns prise $ based on wins / fight quality / 1st or 2nd round stoppages / etc.

and any other ideas that anyone wishes to add

what do you guys think? i'd do it!

Yeah it sounds like a good idea to see some good fights, but there is one flaw in this; how will they ever know if the contestant is a true newbie to fighting or if they are actually trained but just hiding their skills until the crucial moment?

Id watch that show! Raw talent would be fun to watch develop with good coaching...

It sounds pretty good to me. I like the idea of having completely new fighters. Personally, I don't think the overall talent would change much. I'm sure there are a lot of touch guys out there that don't fight.

One thing that I would like to see in TUF is more training and less drama. I'd like to see the coaches showing guys strategies, exercises, techniques and such.

I agree. Less drama and crying would be good for the show. That idea sounds good. I like the idea of the losser bracket. Also all new fighters would be good, show alot of training. But what do mean by new fighters?

I want to see a TUF where they take complete traditionalists who have incredible records in their chosen sport, but now want to crosstrain into MMA. Kind of like the format of the original UFCs, but instead of having people just go at it like in those days, take these guys and cross train them. I'd love to see some boys from K-1, traditional boxing, or some younger Judo champs in there. That would be sick.

Mastodon2 - dude, dana is like big brother. he sees everything and hes so anal and arrogant and a control freak that he probably would have his own private investigator.

Rush - i agree with you totally. theres so much that goes into training and preparation and there are so many coaches in the backround of TUFs that we barely hear from. they could probably make 2 hour shows with no drama. there are enough annoying reality shows and to me it would show the fighters and tv watchers some respect.

garrick - what i mean is people at whatever age that are deciding to get into MMA for whatever reason. maybe HS grad was a wrestler and wants to get into MMA. or a boxer, a karate kid, a judo dude, ( like warglory was explaining)or a kid that always kicked butt on the streets. anybody that wants MMA to be their career. all the fighters we watch now came from somewhere else and made a decision to take it seriously. 0 -0 records. basically show us the start of their MMA careers.

warglory - i didnt even think of that, but i was thinking either no experience or ametures. maybe another TUF with talented veterans from all martial arts that want to cross train itno MMA and get a shot at the next level

you know if a lot of us really thought this out we could get all our ideas together in an organized, professional, well thought out manner and send it to the UFC. i honestly dont think its a bad idea and they cant just keep doing they same TUFs over again and please no more comebacks

The thing that I don't understand is that Dana and the UFC want the UFC to be respected as legit in the sporting community. Showing a bunch of loudmouth kids on a show is not the best way to do it.

I would think that he'd want to do the opposite for TUF. No wonder ignorant sportscasters say what they say about MMA. If all they see is the some guy grunting as he hits a GnP bag or guys throwing "fucks" around, no wonder they think what they think.

I think TUF needs to show more of guys working together to help each other out (despite the fact that they might fight). When I wrestled in elementary and high school, almost everyone that I fought was a nice guy. They were willing to sit down and chat with you and even show you some moves.

Maybe the money involved, or the fact these guys want to go pro, makes it too competitive.
