ive found mir to be pretty insightful, and entertaining as a broadcaster so far but last night something really bothered me. the guy says "gots" constantly, hes worse than my GF's 6 year old with that. now im no grammar master, but to say "he gots him in a leglock" along with countless other abuses of english for some reason irritated te hell outta me. im probably nitpicking and will catch a little flaming for being a wah wah, but man someone needs to tell him that gots isnt a verb.

That's funny. I'm not going to flame you for nitpicking because if I watched WEC shows (I don't even now where to watch WEC shows - are they on PPV or something? Versus? I don't even have cable right now anyway,) I'd most likely be annoyed with hearing someone say "gots" all the time, too.
Before I moved when I had cable, TSN would show WEC shows every once in a while, late at night. Mir is a really, really good commentator. He really knows his stuff. Everytime I would watch a show I would learn something from listening to Mir. Anytime the fight would hit the ground Mir would be all over it, saying what the fighter should/could do, where he should put his weight to avoid being swept, etc. real technical stuff. I love it.
Never noticed him saying "gots" all the time, though. Weird.

I agree with this for the most part. He does a good job over all, but he has a few glaring shortcomings. Durring the first round of the Yahya Beebe match, Mir kept saying "This is bad" and "Its over". I know he's trying to call the fight and he was doing a good job, but he almost turned into Rainman "Bad. Bad. Definitely bad". I think he is just trying to fill space with words to often. He should talk less and give more insight. He's better then Frank Trigg.
This is not on Mir entirely, but isn't Rani Yahya name pronounced "honny" and not "ronny". I don't think anyone said it with a soft R, but I might just be wrong. Anyone else know what it is for sure?

They are on the VS network. Personally I dig Mir's commentating, he was especially good in the Mayhem/ Muira fight.

I like Mir's commentating, but he always counts a fighter out when they're in a submission. He says, "Oh it's over, this is over, it's done." Half the time the fighter gets out...

now dont get me wrong here, i like the guy, and he has a ton of info that he brings to the table, my whole issue is the gots thing, but apparently no one else noticed. this is like me seeing about 400 face touches in the movie face off and no one else noticing the horrible job of foreshadowing that they tried to stick in that abortion of a film.

I like Frankie Mir commentating
but he does stutter alot and has a lot of head shaking its funny
Best is Joe Rogen man does he get excited when something happens I bet he jumps out of his seat about 3 times a show he goes nuts lol
Worst Billy Goldberg
I didn't mind his grammer but I did mind how he repeated over and over how impressed he was with Beebe and how he thought the match was over in the first.
But other then that constant repetition of praise I thought he was awesome.
Yeah I too think Frank should lay down that crystal ball. It's not working for him. Him and Bill Goldberg always shouting out "IT'S OVER BOYS!!" prematurely is getting ridiculous. Other than that I think he (unlike Billy G.) does a great job commentating.
Oh his post-fight interviews usually suck. It's always fun to see him tower over the fighters though. Miguel Torres looked like an infant next to Frank.
I like Mir as well, but his commentating during the Forbes/Baker fight was horrible. He basically sounded like he was in disbelief that Baker was just smoking Forbes in one of the exchanges and lost train of thought. I wasn't impressed at that point. But his sidekick play by play guy needs to learn some MMA, he was saying some of the guillotines were in deep when the guy didn't even have the underhook grabbing the other hand.

Mir is very intelligent and articulate. The fact that he is a former UFC heavyweight champ brings loads of credibility to everything he says as well.
