FLORIAN-LAUZON SLATED

Ken Florian and Joe Lauzon have verbally agreed to meet in a headlining UFC lightweight bout on Spike TV, Florian’s camp confirmed Wednesday. The proposed match-up would see the pair of popular New England fighters meet in the main event for a UFC Fight Night tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 2.

A venue for the event has not been announced, though the Massachusetts natives would not have the pleasure of mixing it up in their home state. MMA remains unregulated in the Bay State.

Contracts have not yet been presented to “The Ultimate Fighter” alumni, though they are expected shortly.

Im picking Lauzon for the upset. Kenflo is great but Lauzon is game for big fights when he's the underdog like against Pulver. He's going to come out set a fast pace and go for the kill early on. Kenflo has more experience in the ufc and will probaby win but i wont be suprised if creepy joe get the W.

Very hard fight to call but for now i will pick Florian.

It's a bit of a step-down for Kenny. I just don't see how he can lose this fight

I really want Louzon to win! I think I'll even bet on him...I am very unsure with this prediction.

I don't like his additude at all, and every time he runs around screaming "I finish fights" I want him to be eaten by a lion.

lauzon is good but he isnt in florians league yet. florian has better standup and jiu jitsu and joe isnt strong enough to completely handle kenny from the top. florian by sub round 2, i dont even think it will be close.

I don't think it is a step down for Ken-Flo, I think it is a great fight actually. I wish it was Huerta but i guess later on....

Florian has to fight someone ya know? I mean the title fights are already taken up for the next 6 months. Penn-Stevenson and then Sherk 3-4 months later. So if he wins then look for him to fight Sherk again for another title shot late October. Unless Joe Silva doesn't want to see that fight again.

I wouldn't be surprised if he loses to Lauzon though.

Man I feel the exact same way. The whole "I finish fights" gimmick really irritated me for some reason.

i see ken flo pulling another sub off, good fight though, if he gets past lauzon he has to fight huerta next too see who gets the next shot at the title after the sherk fight

i honnestly dont mind the he finished fights thing cuz if u can ... DO IT lol dont be another sean sherk ... see sherk and hughes have the same game plan be on top ... but hughes finishes ... i cant stand fighters that dont finsih ... he's trying 2 make a point that he can finish people off

Wow can't wait for this one should be a great fight but to say its a step down in competition is kinda a joke. Joe is a beast with some good hands to go along with his BJJ oh and his trainer BJ. I'm not picking against Joe agiain now that hes seriously training out in Hawaii. I think Joe has an advantage in the stand up and on the ground personally and i think he will be able to take everything Kenny throws at him and plus he can't loose when he is so book smart

Lauzon in a UD is my pick but of course i am biasis but i really believe if he avoids the elbows he will win.
If Joe does loose he's not gonna get finished it will be a UD.
Can't freaking wait!!!

ill say florian takes this by UD...looking foward to it if it does happen, it has the making for a great fight

Besides, he only gave his opinion. You dont have to agree, but he's still entitled none the less.

No one of merit i suppose in the UFC. But i don't agree he is a step down in competition as i believe Joe is above the competition that Kenny has faced other then Sherk and Din Thomas so i see no step down in competition. We will see though I think your extremely underrating Joe Lauzon though by saying he is a step down in competition.

If you're calling this step down in competition, may I point out that he only submitted Din Thomas in the last fight after Din blew out his knee on an attempted shoot and crumpled to the canvas where Florian submitted him.

lol - first time I've heard that one. As much as I like Lauzon, I think Kenny is just too experienced for him.

Lauzon is a good fighter and anything can happen in a fight, but I do not see any place where Joe can rationally win this. Kenny will prove to be too experienced and probably end up choking him out. Kenny's ground game is a serious step up for Joe, and his leg kicks have looked rather devistating as of late. Kenny by sub, R2.

I'm not a big fan of his by any means, but pretty sure he said that as a blow to Sherk. Plus, the fact that he has never won a fight by decision, only finishes.

I agree, I give Florian the advantage in this fight, but I definitely don't think Lauzon is gonna be a pushover for him... however if he wins by UD, it'll be the first fight that he hasn't finished.

well after watching the Kenny v Din Thomas fight again im pretty confident that Lauzon will win this fight standing and if he gets on top he'll GnP Kenny out. You wanna talk about elbows Lauzon has some good elbows. They don't cut you but if he lands them they definitely will finish you. Watching his last fight again just confirms what I think will happen to him against Lauzon.
