I had been renting UFC's on video for many many years and probably seen a live PPV before but the first one I ordered on my own cable bill live and specifically remember and also the first MMA fight/event I saw live were:

First PPV I ordered - UFC 47: Chuck vs. Tito I (4/2/2004) - I ordered this one live and it's the first I remember ordering live even though I'd seen just about every UFC before it by renting them. It was highlighted by Liddell KO'ing Tito after 2 years of trying to put the fight together as well as 'ground fighter' Nick Diaz face-planting Lawler by KO as Lawler was billed as the best young striker and future champion of the division. It also featured Arlovski TKO'ing his way to a title shot, Lytle's first UFC win, and my first introduction to Mike Thomas Brown

Genki Sudo def. Mike Brown, submission (armbar), 3:31 R1
Jonathan Wiezorek def, Wade Shipp, TKO, 4:39 R1
Mike Kyle def. Wes Sims, KO, 4:59 R1
Nick Diaz def. Robbie Lawler, KO, 2:31 R2
Andrei Arlovski def. Wesley Correira, TKO, 1:15 R2
Yves Edwards def. Hermes Franca, split decision
Chris Lytle def. Tiki Ghosn, submission (bulldog choke), 1:55 R2
Chuck Liddell def. Tito Ortiz, KO, 0:38 R2

Having watched UFC since the 90's, surprisingly the first live MMA event I went to was IFL - Everett on 6/1/2007. I was stuck in the beer line for a while (behind Ed Herman) and missed the first 2 fights making the first MMA fight I ever saw live:

Orville Palmer defeated Devin Cole via Split Decision

Following that fight was:

4 Matt Horwich Kazuhiro Hamanaka KO (Head Kick) 1 2:07
5 Vladimir Matyushenko Aaron Stark TKO (Punches) 1 2:49
6 Antonio McKee Mike Dolce Decision (Unanimous) 3 4:00
7 Ryan Schultz Savant Young Decision (Unanimous) 3 4:00
8 Benji Radach Bristol Marunde TKO (Punches) 1 1:28
9 Chris Horodecki Shad Lierley Decision (Unanimous) 3 4:00
10 Brad Blackburn Jay Hieron TKO (Punches) 1 0:40
11 Alex Schoenauer Allan Goes KO (Punch) 1 3:00
12 Reese Andy Krzysztof Soszynski Decision (Split) 3 4:00

Horodecki/Lierley stood out the most on my first live event as it was a contender for 2007 fight of the year. Since then I've attended over a dozen events but that was my first live event.

What was your first PPV ordered and MMA fight watched live?

You can't really get a better first ppv than that kpro.

The first ppv I ordered was ufc 60. I was 14 and my buddy and I were interested in ordering it and my dad let us because it was my birthday. Hughes vs. Gracie. It was a pretty good ppv.

Preliminary card
Melvin Guillard vs. Rick Davis
Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Fabiano Scherner
Spencer Fisher vs. Matt Wiman
Jeremy Horn vs. Chael Sonnen

Main card
Mike Swick vs. Joe Riggs
Brandon Vera vs. Assuerio Silva
Diego Sanchez vs. John Alessio
Dean Lister vs. Alessio Sakara
Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie

I haven't been to a live event. I'm going to Caged Combat Championships on August 20th though. 10 minute drive so I figure I might as well go.

If I remember correctly, I think they showed every fight. Lots of finishes on this card.

I'm the same as Kpro. I watched all the PPV's on DVD or online. The first PPV I ordered myself was UFC 92 everyone before that was either at a mate's house or i'd just rent the DVD/watch online.

First live MMA event I ever attended was ufc 127 Penn vs Fitch. Atmosphere was absoulutely amazing! Can't wait for the ufc to come back next year! Wonder what the main event will be.

I don't mean to quote myself, but it's apparent that the UFC didn't have "co-main events" back then. Lytle vs. Tiki was 0-1 vs. 0-3 in the UFC whereas Arlovski earned his Heavyweight title shot with 3 fights remaining on the PPV.

I had seen numerous ppv's before this one, but the first event I actually ordered was UFC 79. It wasn't a bad little card.

Liddell vs Silva
GSP vs Hughes
Machida vs Sokoudjou
Guillard vs Wiman
Irvin vs Cane

My first event was UFC 81 in Las Vegas. Here are some of the bigger names.
Another solid card.

Lesnar vs Mir 1
Nog vs Big Timmy
Marquardt vs Horn
Tibau vs Griffin
Eastman vs Martin
Almeida vs Yundt
Lytle vs Bradley
Heath vs Boetsch

UFC 79 is one of my favorite cards. How many years did were we fed the "liddell vs silva will happen" line of bs that never happened. We'll it finally did and it was one for the ages

The first UFC I can clearly remember ordering was UFC 52. It was quite the card!

Mike van Arsdale vs. John Marsh
Joe Doerksen vs. Patrick Côté
Ivan Salaverry vs. Joe Riggs
Main card
Georges St-Pierre vs. Jason Miller
Matt Lindland vs. Travis Lutter
Matt Hughes (c) vs. Frank Trigg
Renato Sobral vs. Travis Wiuff
Randy Couture (c) vs. Chuck Liddell

Hughes-Trigg II stands out in my mind more than any other fight. Matt Hughes battling back after taking the low blow and getting beat up, to pick up Trigg, carrying him across the octagon, and slamming him emphatically on the mat.... I'll never, ever forget that.

Couture-Liddell II was pretty epic as well. Liddell avenged his loss to Couture in devestating fashion. At that point, all Liddell had to do was beat Rampage, and he would've been GSP status: UFC champ, who had avenged all his career losses. Well, Chuck had a pretty good run after his second fight with Couture, but we all know what happened when Chuck met Rampage for the second time.... Chuck is a legend, nonetheless, and I was honored to have seen this fight live on PPV.

I have never been to a live UFC event, however I have gone to some small shows in my area, Apocalypse Fights, and those were just kind of whack. Very ghetto environment, fights breaking out in the casinos, etc.

I REEEEAALLLLY regret being in Vegas when Pride 33 was there, and not getting to go.

I didn't catch onto MMA until 2006, so the first event i saw WAS the first PPV we ordered, UFC 64

Kurt Pellegrino Junior Assuncao Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) 1 2:04
Clay Guida Justin James Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) 2 4:42 Yushin Okami Kalib Starnes TKO (Punches) 3 1:40
Spencer Fisher Dan Lauzon TKO (Punches) 1 4:38
Carmelo Marrero Cheick Kongo Decision (Split) 3 5:00
Jon Fitch Kuniyoshi Hironaka Decision (Unanimous) 3 5:00
Sean Sherk Kenny Florian Decision (Unanimous) 5 5:00
Anderson Silva Rich Franklin KO (Knee) 1 2:59

It was wierd, because I had heard of RIch Franklin before this, and i was telling people "Oh, Franklin is going to KILL this Chump named Anderson Silva." haha, Maybe that's why I became a fan...I was blown away with the result. And Silva's STILL the champ today

So then I decided to go to the first one that came to the midwest, and that just happened to be UFC 68 in Columbus Ohio, and Oh my goodness....

Jamie Varner Jason Gilliam Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) 1 1:34
Gleison Tibau Jason Dent Decision (Unanimous) 3 5:00
Jon Fitch Luigi Fioravanti Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) 2 3:05
Matt Hamill Rex Holman TKO (Punches) 1 4:00
Jason Lambert Renato Sobral KO (Punch) 2 3:26
Matt Hughes Chris Lytle Decision (Unanimous) 3 5:00
Rich Franklin Jason MacDonald TKO (Corner Stoppage) 2 5:00
Martin Kampmann Drew McFedries Submission (Arm-Triangle Choke) 1 4:06 Randy Couture Tim Sylvia Decision (Unanimous) 5 5:00

It would have been a blast even without the Main event. Seeing Hughes and Franklin fight live, Lambert's KO of Babalu and Kampmann's Sub of McFedries (both made the crowd erupt) and even on the undercard we had Varner, Fitch, Hammill and others...

With that being said, the entire 25 minutes of the Couture/Sylvia fight was an out-of -body experience. You know how Dana and others who were there say that that fight got the craziest and loudest reaction from any US crowd ever? THey aren't kidding...In fact, that's an understatement! The crowd that night was nuts!

Seeing that Big right Hand from Randy that dropped Tim 8 seconds into the fight and the eruption from the crowd that followed was beyond insane. Seeing Couture defy the odds AGAIN was incredible, and when that fight ended, I almost lost my hearing AND my voice!

Plus, it was fun when the guy behind me was the only one rooting for sylvia, and he almost got jumped midway through the second round, haha

Those two fights are probably responsible for making me the MMA nut I am

that was an awesome card. Since I have been a fan, I have only missed one or two PPV's. That was not one of them. I remember being the only one of my friends who thought Couture could beat Tim Sylvia.... And I also remember thinking that although Silva impressed against Leben, I too thought he wouldn't be able to take Franklin.... How wrong I, and many others were that night...

Only one I have and ever will see live was Liddel vs Jardine UFC 76....sucked because I cant afford good tickets and watching the jumbo tron isn't nearly as cool as my 55" LCD with a $20 bottle of whiskey or rum.

I was thinking the same thing. At UFC 68 the fight before the main event was Kampmann/McFedries...and that's with Hughes/Lytle and Franklin(home town boy)/McDonald. I like the structure better now

Knowing now how the fight turned out, Diaz/Lawler would have made an awesome main event
