UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has failed to finish his opponent in only two UFC fights. At UFC 112 he spent five rounds toying with Demain Maia, while taunting him with terms like "playboy" (it's a long story).

The other was at UFC 97 in 2009, which also went the full five rounds.

In an interview with Benjamin Back of the Brazilian newspaper O Lance (The Lance), Silva was asked if he had ever held off finishing an opponent to keep a PPV going longer.

“There’s no such thing as holding back" replied Silva. "I want to finish as soon as possible. The only time I did it was because he was a friend of mine. It was against Thales Leites. We went until the last round because he’s a friend of mine and I respect him."

Curiously, in an Brazlian Portuguese language interview with Leites by Tatame today, he denied that they are friends...

Anderson is one of the greats, and also one of the weirdest.

Dude says some strange stuff:

I like to wear dresses so people think I'm gay

I tried to kill my old coach with a shotgun

Big Macs are my favorite

Love watching him fight, seems like a weirdo as a person

The Maia fight was ridiculous. I'm on that wagon that can't wait for Silva to get KO or choked out.
I may be waiting for something that will never happen and I know he's the GOAT. I just can't stand him.

Actually Silva didn't finish 3 fights. Silva did not finish my favorite fighter Patrick Cote. If anyone else remembers correctly Cote was the first person in one of Silva's UFC fights to make it into round 3 only to slip on the slippery Bud Light logo in the center of the Octagon injuring his already injured leg in the process forcing the match to end. Silva did not finish Cote. In fact Silva did not even hurt Cote one bit. Cote took a kick, a knee and a punch to the face and didn't even barely wince. Let me repeat it again...Silva did not finish Cote. MMA journalism (if you want to call it that) generally sucks.

Um....but.....he did finish Cote??

Maybe you should re-watch it. He won by TKO.

Also, it had nothing to do with Cote slipping on the "Bud Light logo". Anderson kicked his knee backwards in the second round and it obviously did serious damage.
