Fedor committed to fighting for M-1, not UFC

If this is true, then this really sucks. How long can he stay the #1 ranked P4P fighter in the world when he hasn't fought anyone of note in a while, and a large portion of the top heavyweight talent is in the UFC? What a bummer...

Well now it appears the UFC lost "the best fighter" in the word. What happened not enough money???? So he has some loyalty for his Sambo fans... and what the UFC cant stand that? Why dont you just buy M-1 now, K-1 and tear it apart the rest like you did to PRIDE.

Because that would make no sense. If he was going to be signed by a company owned by Zuffa, the only organization Zuffa would let him fight in would be the UFC. To determine the true #1 HW!

This is the beginning of the end for Fedor. He's gotta dump his manager and think about his career instead of his loyalty to that bum. How good of a manager can he be if he makes all kinds of outrageous demands at the expense of his fighter and with his own companies interests in mind. Say what you want about White, but what Zuffa offered Fedor was ridiculous, 2 mil per fight and an immediate title shot. I guess Fedor's people forgot they can't just use his name recognition to bully people into signing him. You wouldn't see Kobe Bryant expecting to sign with a team at four times the amount of Lebron James and only as long as he could bring his buddies from the street court and be under contract to the euro-league and spanish league as well, just for fun. That wouldn't happen, no matter how his agent tried to use his dominance at the game, and especially as Fedor can't straight up claim to have fought against the best in the world because they get dummied by people like Cheick Kongo. The key word there is "use" as well, because wait and see how he is regarded by so called Russian MMA managers and promos alike if he loses a couple of times. With the continued emergence of flaws in Pride's so called unbeatable fighters people will question more and more how good Fedor really was. If we see Couture beat Nog and if Gonzaga shitcans some other tough fighters, Couture will be the better proven fighter by the end of 2008. Think that's crazy? Well, given Couture's recent heavyweight stint plus the fact he will be likely be fighting the likes of Nog and Vera this year, and with guys like Arlovski still hanging around, people will be hard pressed to consider Fedor better with spectacular bouts with Oleg Taktarov, a bunch of Russian Sambo cans, and possibly a dancing bear drunk on Slivovitz.

The UFC should have done whatever it takes to get Fedor.....in my eyes there should have been some sort of reasonable compramise

fedor is now down 5th in my ranking, but he will drop again soon, i am just waiting some days to have the confirmation of that news.

Call me stubborn, but I do not believe this is true. The author of the story keeps saying the "source", what the hell is that to mean, that could be a dream or fantasy for all we know.

Until I see a quote from Fedor or his management I refuse to buy into any more rumors about where he may or may not be competing.

And he loses his #1 spot for me at least if he signs with this company. He will still be one of the best of all time, just not the best currently anymore.

IF true, don't blame Fedor, blame Dana. You'll go to the job that pays you more and give you the most benefits right? so does Fedor.

I'm not blaming Fedor. I am just saying if he signs there he is no longer number one in the world. A great of all-time, just not the greatest at this point.

If a star running back signs with the Canadian Football League, because they are offering him more than NFL teams, I do not blame him...but he just cant be seen as the number one elite running back in the world.

i had a gut feeling he was always going to sign with M-1 like i wanted to truly beileve it would be UFC but Dana doesn't want to cooraperate and let Fedor fight in Sambo then you know you can't expect Fedor to keep negotiating, he said wether he signed with UFC or not he will fight before the end of 2007

Russia works in a totally diffrent way than the US, so u never know there might be some politics involved here that he cant go against.

UFC tore Pride apart?? Lest see, they had mafia ties. Lost their TV contract in Japan, couldn't afford to pay big salaries anymore and had to sell. The more the UFC got into Pride, the more they realized how screwed up the company was. They searched and searched to get a TV deal and couldn't. So instead of just releasing the fighters, they started to sign them. They offered Fedor silly money. He said no. He wouldn't sign a "exclusive"" contract with the UFC, but would with M-1 (which was owned by his manager. Sounds like games being played to me.)


Gomi has stated he won't fight out outside of Japan. (Must be Dana's fault) Diaz has done some stupid things in the UFC (Going after Joe Riggs in the hospital after their fight.. There's probably more)

Just think, the UFC signs Fedor, he becomes champ and then either gets injured outside of the UFC fighting, or loses outside of the UFC. What does that say about the UFC champ????

I dont know how people can keeping riding dana and the ufc for this. "Offer him whatever he wants", "do whatever it takes". They offered him 8x more than what randy was being paid per fight. They offered to sign a shitload of his team. I'm pretty sure they let him do the sambo tournaments too. Basically the ufc offered everything they could without bending over and taking it. This is strictly on the shoulders of fedor's management. I seriously hope that zuffa just played a great hand of poker and had a subsidiary company buy m-1. Or.. if it was cuban, to let fedor fight randy on the superbowl card.

Sad day in MMA. Who runs M-1 anyway?

Yes, I am almost sure there is politics involved. Fedor is the face of the emerging sport in Russia, they can't have him fight in USA.
