Heavyweight great Fedor Emelianenko will leave it up to observers and pundits to determine who the No. 1 heavyweight in the world is following the conclusion of the 2010 Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix.

Should the winner of the tournament be ranked higher than the UFC heavyweights?

"That's probably something the specialists and commentators should decide," Fedor said Thursday on a conference call promoting his upcoming quarterfinal bout against Antonio Silva.

This attitude of extreme humbleness is a major factor why he never wanted to joined the UFC. It troubles me when he says "I will leave it up to specialists to decide if I'm the best" when for the longest time everyone thought he was #1. It's exactly what the best fighter in the world would say. Anderson says he's not the best, GSP thinks he has challenges at 170, Frankie never brags, Aldo never brags, Shogun never brags, Velasquez never brags, the only champion I know of that thinks he's unstoppable is Cruz.

Currently, Cruz is unstoppable...the only thing that is a hurdle right now, is surgery.

I agree. Cruz has been looking phenomenal at 135. It will be really interesting to see when he and Urijah Faber finally meet again at Bantamweight.

It'sthings like this that make Fedor one of my favorite fighters. As for if he's the greatest, I think the upcoming Strikeforce Heavyweight Tournament may answer that.

And Cruz is the fricken BOMB!

I would say he has been AWKWARD as F@#% at 135.
Cruz is a winner for sure! But I cannot get over how bizarre and impossible his footwork/movement is.
...It truly baffles me...

Yeah, I looked up unorthodox striker in the dictionary, and there was no text, just a picture of Dominick Cruz

Hmm, id say Cruz is the least talented of the entire group.

Anyway, go fedor! Always a fan.

Cruz..are u sure..cuz last time i check he was pretty damn humble..n u put A. Silva in there..LMFAO..i love watchin the dude fight..but the way he acts sometimes, u know he thinks he's the best there is..n in some of his interview he resays what he jus said to make it seem more humble..but what first comes out is a bit cocky..but he has the rites to be cocky..he on FIRE..as long as u don't go overboard like Brock, than ur all good...

I would like to see Fedor train in America and add some more tools to his well rounded belt. more Kicks, jabs balance. I think Fedor could keep getting better and has a lot of potential still.
I hope Fedor beats Overeem. Overeem is talented, but I like Fedor's personality better. I wanna see Werdum, Fedor and Overeem beat Barnett and go to the UFC. I don't like Barnett's personality at all.

Between Fedor and Overeem, humbleness is much overflowing. Great to see, and I do believe that if we don't get to see Fedor Vs Velasquez or Overeem vs JDS, the only thing we have to go by is the person's personality.
Not many humble top10's in the HW division in UFC, barring the current champ ofc.

I so wish M-1 would eff off sometimes - but regardless, Fedor's mix of being humble outside of the ring and an absolute wolverine inside is truly awesome

He should be humble...His career was padded...He got the decision against Arona which in my eyes he lost...Heat herring went ten minutes and reversed the pudgy russian...He lost his last two fights...Brett Rogers broke his nose after changing the tires on my car...Yeah he should be humble...

I mean the guy did have a video called the Baddest man on the Planet...Personally I think Cain, Brock, Jon Jones and Carwin beat him pretty easily...

He chose Strikeforce over the UFC...He could have made the move he didnt want Brock laying on top of him...I think hes not so happy now that UFC bought Strikeforce and they allow elbows now which will help a wrestler work him over now....He wants Dan Henderson...Seriously? He isn't the greatest of all time...hes the most overrated of all time...Hes humble cause he knows if he faced top competition all those years he woulda lost...He never finished any top level guys...

So with all that said at least Fedor and I agree I never believed he was the best either...

Your post shows how long youve been an MMA fan...not long at all...

Padded record? first of all if you did your homework at all you'd look at the rankings of those opponents you considers "cans" though they are obviously not ranked now they were ranked very highly ranked and regarded back then.

Babalu was in his prime
Kerry Schall was a decent HW
Semmy Schilt is the Goat of K-1
Herring was in his prime when they fought
Nog was in his prime for all 3 fights
Coleman was a top 10 when they fought the first time
Randleman was top 10 when they fought
Fujita was a decent HW
Cro Cop was seemingly unstoppable and people were making RIP Fedor threads on sherdog back then
Couture turned down the Fedor fight in bodog and thats why Lindland stepped in (yes this really happened, go look it up)
Sylvia was top 10 when they fought
Arlovski was ranked #2 when they fought
Rogers was top 10 when they fought regardless of if he ever deserved it
Bigfoot and Werdum are easily top 5-7

How can anyone sit there and trash the greatest heavyweight in mma history, what exactly has brock done to get this undeserved sense of accomplishment, had he not been famous he wouldnt have even gotten a bulls*it title shot at 2-1 (1-1 ufc) in the first place. Had he actually attempted to earn it he would not have probably gotten it, had he fought Cain or JDS or Werdum before an undeserved title shot who knows how people like you (casual fans) would view him. Probably not as highly thats for sure. ffs people still think brock is the best heavyweight and he got merc'd twice in a row, he's lucky carwin gasses so easily.

Carwin beats Fedor? Carwin gasses in under 2 minutes and hasnt fought anyone like Fedor or Bigfoot or Werdum, someone with a decent chin that will test his untested jiu jitsu defense, oh wait brock tapped him out, yeah he's a complete mixed martial artist huh? no cardio and no jitz defense. carwin is not top 10 anymore and neither will brock after a few fights.

Brock? the one time Brocks jiu jitsu was tested he failed miserably, and if they stood for too long fedor would knock him unconscious. if Brock tried to keep Fedor in full guard or half guard he risks being swept with armbars and leglocks.

He didnt choose strikeforce, why do uneducated people still not realize that Fedor was STILL UNDER CONTRACT,, dana is a clown for making you believe such lies, he knew that fedor was under contract and the way to save face was to say "hey, youre scared" why wouldnt he? why would he talk up the greatest heavyweight if he wasnt in his org? i bet you if fedor turned things around and won dana and bandwagon jumpers like you would change your tune. you cant just breach your contract with a different org just because a bunch of whiny fans want you to fight somewhere else.
