I just kind of started watching the lower level MMA events to get to know more of the sport after pride died out and I wanted to know If / What other people watched and what was their favs were.

Before WEC 31 it was the IFL, but they have been putting on subpar shows for the past few months. Then we had WEC 31, and I'm now a WEC fan.

My favorite MMA Organization period is Shooto, for it is the truth, and is what all MMA should be. Granted there are quirks here and there, but they put on the most solid top to bottom cards and almost every fight is a real contest and a blast to watch. I like fighters in all the orgs, but the only one that holds any real significance to me is Shooto.

WEC is the best. Good talent for a smaller organization and it has Frank Mir doing commentary. That and its free and on cable. If you give it to me for free, i will watch it and the commercials you are shoving down my throat. I dont mind.

WEC...say what you want about Zuffa but they do know how to run a top notch organization.

If only Shooto had english annoucers and Regular Canadian and U.S. PPV deals. It's crazy, for hte talent etc. they have they get little recognition outside of Japan. Sucks that all these other new orgs are getting these big money backers but faithful old shooto is just sort of chugging along. Seriously though guys, give them a look, great org.

I dont think that some of these should be considered non major orgs...who are you considering major other than the UFC?? M-1?? Not doing nearly as much business as Elite/XC or WEC!!

Right on the money I love watching guys like Lion Tekeshi, Akitoshi Tamura and Hioki, the small guys. They are the most explosive and I won't be suprised if all MMA organizations implement lighter weight classes like Bantumweight and Flyweight, because watching guys like B.j. Kojima is a pleasure, I like watching Moon Wolf Sato because he bring so much charisma and talent to the fight game, much of what I like to see in a fighter. And If you look at all of the big Pride fighters most of them started their career in Shooto so

Props to You !

And Kimbo V Tank!

By the end of 08, WEC will be huge.

While I enjoy shoot a lot as well, I really don't like the knockdown rule. Also, I am a fan of the cage over ring. So I went with the WE. They focus on the lighter weights, so it could be the North American equivalent of shooto. With Takaya signing there, i expect Faber to have his toughest test as champ.

WEC, by far.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

What I don't like about Shooto is the knockdown rule, the insanely stupid gloves with the useless padding, the lack of quality wrestlers, no elbows, Shinichi "BJ" Kojima, some of the worst robberies in the history of the sport and especially the fact that MMA fans often use Shooto as a reference to seem more knowledged and hardcore.

Sure there have been some great fights in shooto and the way it's all been set up is pretty damn good but really?! This is your fav organisation!?

No offense to any of you guys voting for shooto, perhaps you like shooto the most out of all the minor organisations but half of the idiots I've talked to on the different MMA forums that say they're crazy about shooto don't even know who Urushitani or Akitoshi Tamura is!

I agree Shooto isnt just a fight org its a whole system. Its a great one that should be adopted in North America. It would be good For MMA to have its own regulatory body other than state comissions. Having a Amateur circuit created would be good too.
Not to mention they hold show many shows its awesome. They have held more matches than any other org too. Source

I love everything about Shooto, expect for the knockdown rule and the occasional posterboy or Japanese fighter gift decision. Hell, if nothing else, Masatoshi Abe fights there. Not too mention tons of other below 155 fighters. And stickan, anyone who claims to follow Shooto and isn't familiar with Yasu Urashitani is a sad person, awesome striker, best in MMA save Anderson Silva IMO. But yeah, there is some merit to the lack of strong wrestlers thing. After T BLOOD Largely moved on and Kid and many of the other Japanese Wrestling based fighters went elsewhere the bottom sort of fell out on wrestling talent in Shooto. But I'm sure it will change, with rookies coming in every year and all.

I wanted to pick Elite but WEC has stacked cards all the time and they are free! Elite need to start having actually good match ups and stop giving their featured fights some nobody so they can beat their face in.
