Is Extreme Couture the best camp in MMA now?

Extreme Couture is the best MMA camp out there. Look at what they have done lately.
1. Tyson Griffin looked great against Tavares
2. Forrest Griffin put in his best performance to date against Shogun. A sure sign of a camp's greatness is if they bring their fighters to new levels.
3. Randy has looked better than ever in his recent victories. Randy, at the age of 44 and with his new camp, looks better than he did at any other time in his career.
I know one thing, I am not betting against anyone who trains with Couture in the near future. They are combining the gameplanning of a camp like Jackson's with the grappling of Quest and conditioning that is superior to any other.
If you disagree, state which camp you think is best and why.

Right now I don't think you can say it isn't. I mean just look at the performances and game plans that that camp has had. Results don't lie and it seems the game plans they come with are top notch. Randy seems to be happier then we have ever seen him and im glad that after hes done fighting he is going to have this to groom fighters

Extreme Couture or good old Team Quest.

Don't forget Jardine! He has been training with Couture's camp too I think. Also, Rampage was training with them too, much to the chagrin of Hendo.

I think they are certainly the best right now for taking UFC level fighters and preparing them to win their matches in the UFC.
If you defined "best" as taking guys with no experience and building them into successful pro fighters at different levels (i.e. fighting in a variety of organizations with success dependent on their natural abilities) then I still think MFS is the top team. They seem to have representation with many fight promotions, including the UFC and I get the impression that most of their fighters had their pro debuts while training there.

Jardine mainly worked with Greg Jackson, and Rampage is in Ibarra's camp, which has lloked great lately as well, especially in UFC 75 with wins by Kongo, Jackson and Bisping.

it is doing great so its hard to say no
Extreme Couture fighters have looked very good lately. Besides Tyson's, Forrestt's, and Randy's win don't forget Gray Maynard's 9 second knockout over Veras at UFN 11. It seems like a very well rounded camp. Tyson looked sharp in every aspect. His takedown defense was awesome and his striking looked very sharp. Also, I was impressed by how claim he was when Thiago took his back. Tyson knew exactly what to do and what not to do. Dido For Forrest. He looked awesome.

Good point about the MFS fighters. With alot of their top fighters leaving, they are definitely a grass roots camp.

Couture still hasn't beaten a top 10 at HW. Nog will sub him after outboxing him. CC will LHK him into oblivion (if he comes motivated of course). In fact, there's no evidence to suggest Couture can beat a top 10. Barnett should come over and give him another beating. If Dana was concerned about having the best fighters he would sign him.

I also expect big things out of Bonnar who is now training there also. I think training with Forrest and Randy will make him a better fighter. I expect him to waste Schafer and move on to fight a big name Houston Alexander....even Shogun possibly.

i believe so. its very arguable there are some really great teams out there but i think xtreme couture is at the top of the food chain at the moment.

Randy said they're a gym, not a team.
They dont just train with the same guys. It's an entire gym where anyone can come and train for as little or as long as they want.
Rampage, jardine, forrest, even Wanderlei.
They're not in a traditional "Team", but simply a gym where all fighters everywhere can come together and exchange knowledge.

Best gym for UFC fighters? Yeah. Best gym for MMA fighters? Nope. They're good at training people for the cage, but what randy knows would get him killed in a ring.

Heh, it's a good thing for Randy then that UFC is the top organization in the world and anyone who wants to get to the top from now on is going to have to get used to the NSAC rules inside a cage.
I've always prefered the ring and the quick standups and the knees/kicks to the head of a downed opponent too, but them days are over. Welcome to the new world of MMA. For the forseeable future the main action is going to be in the cage.

No i'm just pointing out that the title says mma, I don't feel it is for mma, but I do for the UFC.

I guess my answer to that is that the best MMA is in the UFC. Therefore the best camp in the UFC would be the best camp in MMA.

i wouldnt go say there the best, but they are up there... i find it funny how because shogun loses everyone thinks he sucks and chute boxe aint a dominant camp anymore... there still sick in everything they do.. loses happen, its just a part of the game. i say chute boxe, team quest, extreme couture, and american kickboxing acadamy are the top camps right now.

No your not understanding me, the tactics practiced at EC, would not work in any other venue then the octagon. You can't do what they practice in a ring. And no the UFC is not MMA as a whole.

I understand that the UFC is not all of MMA, but the best fighters fight in the UFC. I understand that the tactics Randy uses involve alot of cage work. In the NBA, the players train to use NBA rules. They do not train FIBA rules. They do not train FIBA rules because that would be silly since they play in the NBA. Does that mean that the training they are doing is not good basketball training?

lol No, I'm just saying their the best UFC camp, not the best MMA(encompasing K-1, bodog, ect.) camp. Thats why all these pride guys are having a tough time, and all the UFC guys had a tough time in pride, they practiced tactics for a certain venue and now the playing fields scewd for them. Is it fair? Yeah, the Pride guys could have trained for the UFC, granted the woulden't have done as well in pride but they'd be kicking ass now lol. Personally I'd like to see the UFC do a show every now and then with a ring to show off the talent their signing. Oh and I love watching Mirko and Rua and Wand in the ring. If the UFC want's Ko's they should go to the ring. I'd like to know the KO to fight ratio for each league, I think Pride's would be slighty higher(would be higher if mark hunt and Nog weren't there)

Extreme Coulture to me is the 3rd best camp behind Blackhouse(best brazillian fighters like the Nog brothers, and others!) and Rampage's camp...
You see how good Rampages camp looked at 75? Way better then Extreme Couture's camp at 76...
At 75...
Rampage over Hendo
Kongo over Cro Cop
Bispin over Hamil(LMAO!!! PHYSCE!!!)

I'd say yes it is EC but why is every thread turning into a Pride vs. UFC argument... there is no more Pride.

The second best mma league is a ring though. So no there's no pride but there is a K-1. It's not a UFC vs. Pride argument it's what would work best in each venue.

I don't really see how you can say that things learned in extreme couture wouldn't work in a ring, First of all do you have any fight experience and second of all have you been down to extreme couture gym to see how they train? It's very possible they have a ring there and people use it to train.

Yes I have experience in fighting, lots of different types, been in a cage(hated it) and a ring(love it). It's easy to see what they teach, because all their fighters do it, it's easy to see it woulden't work in a ring because they coulden't trap people along the cage, there isn't a caged wall in the ring you know...you also coulden't push people towards the cage while on the ground to use it as an extra person to hold someone down, because again the ring doesn't have caged walls. Oh and EC is tailor made for the UFC, because well he's 3-3 in a ring and he lives in the cage...
Not that this really matters but I bet Couture could come up with game plans in a ring too.

I'm sure he could but his style is not suited for the ring. He's made for the UFC. It's like Cro Cop coming to the cage after a liftime in the ring, it's much more difficult to change then people think. Randy's a great fighter, but he's developed a style for the Cage, it works, and it works well.

Is Fedor more suited to the ring or the cage then?
