Former Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight titleholder Evan Tanner on Thursday announced via his myspace page that he has signed a four-fight contract with the UFC. Independent sources have confirmed the signing.

Don't you mean the Caveman has arrived? I hope he come in with the beard. Finally someone interesting in the MW division. I'd like to see him fight Nate Quarry even though they are two of my top 5 favorite fighters.

ive been lookin forward to evan coming back for a while. lets hope hes doen with his addictions for good and we can see a match between him and our top MW contendors. franklin vs evan is something i hope i dont have to see again just for the sheer fact hes lost twice to him but even so ihave no doubt itd be a good fight. like to see em against the winner of herman/doerkson

ill certainly be rooting for him. if he can get motivated and stay clean he could be very tough for anyone in the mw division. beat anderson? well im not gonna get carried away but if evan can whether the storm and put him on his back then who knows. evan has a proven chin so you never know. i doubt it will happen but i would be absolutely thrilled if he could somehow pull off that miracle.

That's awesome. I used to like watching him fight and I'm glad he's back. There's finally another good fighter in the MW division.

A solid, well rounded fighter added back to the MW div. Winner of Herman/Doerkson fight would be good, or he could comeback against David Terrell who is also making his comeback. That would be exciting.

I take it you saw what Franklin did to Tanner when Tanner was at his peak years ago?
As much as I like Evan as a fighter in his prime, he wouldn't last a round against Silva these days.

Tanner is really good and working the clitch so that could be problematic for Silva, but Tanner is out of his prime and like someone allready said to got owned by Franklin twice so i dont see him taking out Silva......

Yeah, don't get my cheers twisted here! I am not saying that he will dethrone Silva (and I wouldn't want him to) I'm just saying that the Div as a whole needs the talent to thicken opposition. If you can make it past Evan, Rich and Yushin then you've EARNED a title shot!!! I don't think Silva's dominance is a problem, the lack of undercard talents is. I actually predict his first fight being Nate "the great".

I will give him top ten almost for sure, but theres no telling what he can do with Fihlo, Ssilva, Hendo, Lindland, and Franklin in the division.
