Does ESPN's MMA coverage have credibility issues?
By Steve Cofield

UFC can't be pleased with on-again, off-again MMA coverage from ESPN. The Big Lead pointed out that UFC 86 got almost no face time across the ESPN family of networks and on the web this past weekend...So Why Did ESPN Ignore UFC All Weekend?

I am pissed that the UFC events are not even on the weekend sports events on the USA Today, is it really hard to add UFC 86 7pmPST in between, girl hockey and Int'l Curling Semis

Ok I didn't read the article but that's how i see it. ESPN had Kimbo on their cover and hyping him, saying all these things about how he represented mma. For me, that's when i completely stopped caring about what any ESPN analyst says about anything mma related. Not that I ever really cared bout ESPN in the mma world, I used to be indifferent but since they had Kimbo for an mma cover boy I just resent them (mma wise). my advice to everyone is ESPN + MMA = IGNORE!!! , they don't seem to know much about the sport yet.

In my opinion, when ESPN decides to join the world of MMA coverage, they'll make a splash when doing so.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see a UFC/ABC/ESPN deal in the not-so-distant future.

ESPN generally only covers the big title fights briefly. Too much other stuff to devote coverage to. On the other hand, I've noticed quite an increase in newspaper coverage-my local paper (The Washington Post) regularly covers UFC PPVs and highlights the major fights, plus does an occasional piece on certain fighters-they once did a great Houston Alexander article.

Living in the NW we are a hot bed for MMA and I tried to get the Seattle Times interested and said I would point them in the rioght direction so they did not look stupid and they were not interested at all for print or online and I sent them a breif snippet of all of the the ex-UFC champs that are either from or train in the NW, Barnett, Couture, Pulver, Mo, Lindland(nonchamp), etc.
