During a recent media conference call, Doug DeLuca confirmed that EliteXC is looking to get onto pay-per-view.

Pay-per-view is our goal,” said Deluca, “Broadcast TV builds stars for PPV.”

Really, at this point, EliteXc only has one bankable PPV draw in Kimbo Slice. In order to protect Slice and generate decent PPV numbers, the best possible opponent is probably Ken Shamrock. Without Slice, I’m not sure how they put on a show that people would pay for. A brother vs. brother fight of Ken vs. Frank Shamrock could generate some interest, but I don’t think it would be enough to call the show a success.

Well your hardcore fans wouldn't order it. At least I know I wouldn't pay for a card that has Kimbo or the Shamrocks headlining it. They also don't have a stable of fighters strong enough to justify a PPV. They would have to put all their best fighters on the same card and still then I don't know if it would PPV worthy.

The best card they could put on wouldn't crack 100,000 buys.

The Shamrock/Shamrock fight has lost almost all its mystique. They really missed the boat on that one.

The only way to break 100,000 buys is to potentially sacrifice Kimbo by giving him a real opponent that would probably beat him. Like Tito.

EDIT - actually a PPV with tons of hype on CBS that is headlined by Kimbo/Tito and has Shamrock/Shamrock as the semi main could do 200,000 buys I think. Maybe a bit more.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the Elite XC fights on Saturday or on at Midnight. How are they supposed to get anybody to watch.

I agree. There is nothing there that they could really hype to sell PPV's. Doing their shows on Showtime, and the CBS deal is good enough for now. They need to build up their promotion before they venture into PPV.
