Tops on the list of apocalyptic harbingers: Adam Sandler's film career, Sly Stallone in yet another "Rambo," Leno routinely beating Letterman.

Now you can add Kimbo Slice rubbing shoulders with Andy Rooney.

The knuckle-chaffed Slice (real name Kevin Ferguson, for mass media types eager to run a background check) is about to enjoy the most expeditious journey from Miami hood to national phenomenon since Tony Montana.

That's because Gary Shaw and his ProElite label saw wisdom where the UFC saw folly. Namely, if a network wants you to make creative concessions in exchange for primetime exposure, you don't puff your chest out like a blowfish. You smile, say thank you, and enjoy the opportunity.

This is what i've been getting at for awhile now.
Elite XC is placing its pieces very carefully and might,in some respects pull a check mate on the UFC.

Despite Kimbo being contraversial in the world of MMA,he is a mainstream name from his youtube fights alone. Not only is he helping to make noise in the promotion but look at Ken Shamrock as well.Sure the guy isn't the best fighter walking the block today, but he is one of the biggest draws the UFC ever had.Now mix all that into a 7:00 time slot on CBS and you have a very serious contender on your hands based on that little bit of hype alone.I've also mentioned before how Elite XC is suppose to be expanding into Europe as well.

I'm not saying Elite XC is going to put the UFC under or anything dramatic like that.I believe the UFC is going to be around for a very long time to come.

However,I think if Elite XC continues at the rate their going, and if their CBS deal goes good, they could be a huge contender in the world of MMA promotions.

With a TV deal and more exposure, their pay scale better start getting as good as the UFC's is, otherwise this all means nothing for the fighters.

It really doesnt matter if they have a tv deal, elitexc will not ever be on the level of the ufc, elitexc lacks in talent everywhere and the shows are hardly good. I like to see what gary shaw does once kimbo loses and ufc is the best by far
