UFC 79: Doug Evans vs. Mark Bocek Finalized

Alaskan Fighting Championships title-holder Doug Evans (5-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC), who made his octagon debut against Roger Huerta in June, will return to action at UFC 79 to take on Mark Bocek (4-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC).

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) confirmed the fight with Evans’ manager this afternoon, though the bout had been rumored for more than a week.

UFC 79 takes place Dec. 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The pay-per-view event features a headline match between UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra and former champ Matt Hughes.

Nice. Doug Evans looked solid against Huerta. He was just outmatched. Good to see him back in the octagon.

I may be wrong, but I think he's the first Alaskan in the UFC since Paul Varelans. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Well, there you go. Proven wrong again...

I'm glad to see Bocek back. He never had a chance to showcase his talent last time.

I'm going to have to go with Evans on this one. I might change my mind later though.

sounds like a great fight. both showed theyre not to be underestimated in their debuts against top lw contendors. now that its 0-1 for both i expect to see fireworks from them both. everyone knows its hard to keep fighting in the ufc with no wins in your first 2 fights
