Dome brimming, Diesel Hurt and Bas saying I told you so

StrikeForce at the Dome broke all of the records for Combat Sports(including boxing) attendance in Washington even though it was a lackluster event. Most of the prelims were decisions with a few fluke finishes like a ko via slam and doctor stoppage from a damaged eye. Maurice Smith and Norjte were the only two to pull off dominating performances, you could debate for Devela over Riggs but the stoppage from slam via injury is always leave a bad taste in your mouth. Still a huge win for him but very unfortunate turn in an already Odysseus type career for Riggs. It all ended with Bas's words "watch or for the Norwegian striker." And Bob Sapp looked like a scared child running away from his strikes.

Would love an update on Riggs condiition and if it is possible for him to fight in the March EliteXC, went off on a stretcher, I was really looking forward to some thunderous piunches from Diesel at my first in person MMA event.

So, Bob Sapp, a former K1 fighter. Lost to a guy who is 1-5 in MMA. Well I really don't think I care about that division anymore.

That wrestler was an Olympic gold medalist, and happened to be the second one Fujita has stopped.

good story it was weird because Bob Sapp has got punched before and yet he looked the same way.

Yeah, Nortje was 1-5 in MMA, but he is also 10-0 in boxing, and that's all they did was box.

That sucked, i was hoping for the start to a Sapp comeback, but i have now officially resigned myself to him sucking. I saw zero explosiveness, and no real fire in his belly for the fight

a comeback would have been fun to watch with his crazy voice and everything but instead Norjte gets his 2nd MMA victory out of 7 tries, crappy

I havn't seen the fight, but this is exactly what Sapp did when he fought Aerts, took a knee that looked half convincing then curled up on the ground and pretended to be in serious pain. He later admitted that FEG had screwed him and he had intended to screw K-1 on his last contracted fight. They give him Aerts as punishment, he threw it to avoid pain, injury and an inevitable loss.

It seems odd he'd get bombed out by Nortje so quickly, even in his K-1 days Jan didn't look like a crisp or hard hitting striker. He was a bum basically, he was huge but he was completely awful.

Nortje is a good boxer/kickboxer so I wasn't surprised when Sapp got mauled. Sucks that Riggs got hurt that way, hopefully his back will heal up completely and he will make a comeback......again

What about Devela??? Just so you know Riggs got slamed and started tapping but the crowd thought it was the punches to the face after the slam

All I can say is Devela brought down the house

Devela just another great up and coming fighter out of the 360 representing Washington, actually Bonney lake Lake tapps area

your telling me that this strikeforce had more attendance then the best UFC event? is that for real?

anyway, your response to richieb's comment was crass and ill founded. he was merely responding to your statement where you put down an Olympic gold medalist and made him sound like a nobody. you put down a fighter and richieb was merely illustrating the background of said fighter so as to lay out the facts to avoid people viewing this topic getting the wrong idea about fujita's opponent.

As of yet the UFC has not come to washington, they just use our fighters...

thank you for that, it was boggling my mind for a bit. i read it like saying that it broke attendance records...and that it was also held in Washington as a sub-fact. thank you for clearing that up because it was really confusing me

I hope that Riggs is alright. He shouldnt have been fighting IMO
