Doerksen steps up to fight Herman at UFC 78

After David Terrell was forced to withdraw from his UFC 78 bout against Ed Herman due to an ankle injury, veteran middleweight contender Joe Doerksen has decided to step up to face the Ultimate Fighter 3 finalist on November 17th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

yeah, his loss was 3 years ago now , so Herman is not the same fighter for sure !!

I hope Doerksen wins, it's nice to see him back in the UFC.

Wow, that should be a solid fight. I don't know who to pick. I did have Herman over Terrell, but Doerksen seems like a tougher matchup for him. Doerksen is a ground fighter, and has 31 of his 39 wins by submission. He has also fought a lot of solid competition, including Matt Hughes (loss), David Louiseau (loss), Denis Kang (win), Anthony Macias (win), Chris Leben (win), Joe Riggs (loss), Ed Herman (win), Patrick Cote (win), Matt Lindland (loss), Jason MacDonald (loss), Nate Marquardt (loss), and Paulo Filho (loss).

That's a solid resume, but in "big fights" (those shown above), JD is only 5-7. I'm not sure if I'd put Herman in that mix, but if I did, then I'd have to pick him to beat Doerksen. So I'll say ShortFuse by 2nd round KO.

Should be a really good grappling match.
But...... David Terrel has way to many injuries something is messed with his body. Needs to train less or somethin

Best news I've heard all day! This just made the next fight card for me.

Naturally being from Winnipeg I'm going to be a little biased.....so Doerksen R1 TKO. War Joe!

Good replacement....but id still like to see some of the under cards more.

I initally thought the ONLY good replacement would be Thales Leites but this is surprisingly good, but its a toughy to pick and wager on, i was confident in Terrell as he could of hung with Herman on the feet but when it went to the ground he would sub Herman at some point, i cant say the same for Joe though cos if Herman outs him on his back then i dont see Joe getting a sub from his back, maybe a Herman GnP UD win then?

I would rather see Alves VS Lytle than this fight tbh, and they should be wanting to push Alves more than Herman but it will still be a good fight and as far as late replacements go as its good as we could hope for really

Yeah, Doerksen stood in against Filho, who couldn't get the fight to the mat to save his life. So he just KO'd him instead.

I agree that this should be a good matchup, though. Herman clearly isn't on Filho's level.
