The Ultimate Fighter 1” winner Diego Sanchez (17-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) will look to reclaim his contender status in the UFC’s stacked welterweight division when he takes on Roan Carneiro (12-6 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at UFC 82 — an event that takes place March 1 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Sanchez announced that the fight has been booked with a recent MySpace bulletin. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) left a message with Sanchez’s new management team but hasn’t yet received confirmation of the bout.

tune up for diego. carneiro is a tough guy and he did give jon fitch some trouble, but diego should be able to handle him easily. round 2 sub.

I think Diego will take it too but probably by a decision. Roan seems like a pretty tough dude.

not sure i understand the logic there?!? he very nearly subbed Fitch and Diego didnt come close to that, notsure but imj guessing Roan is a BB in BJJ and so i see Diego subbing as highly unlikely

Oddly tough fight for Diego, it will go to the judges, not sure which way yet!

This is GREAT! Diego did not need to drop down. Dropping down is just an excuse, what happened to just learn from your losses and get better? I'm pretty sure he would have owned Kos if he didn't have that staph. We need a 3rd fight!!!

Roan is a great fighter, he's just overlooked because Fitch made him look bad in the 2nd round when he subbed him when Roan actually won the 1st. This should be a another fast paced ground war for Diego! It should look like that awesome fght with Nick Diaz. Great BJJ vs great, explosive wrestling. It's gonna be a WAR!!!

Tune up for Diego? Diego should handle him easily?

Are we only looking at a fightfinder record to determine a matchup now?

This is 50/50.

diego did not drop down because he would have to start from the bottom and he would get owned by ken flo!!!

Niether of them will get the sub IMO

UD for diego by dominant positioning. Although Roan has been improving at a fast pace, i dont think he can keep diego on his back.
