SACRAMENTO, Calif. ā€“ Despite UFC president Dana White's threats in Abu Dhabi earlier this month, UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will not be fighting on the preliminary card of a UFC event any time soon.

In fact, he'll actually be in the main event.

Following Saturday night's "Aldo vs. Faber" post-event press conference, White told a small group of reporters that the upcoming Silva vs. Chael Sonnen fight at UFC 117 in Oakland, Calif., would serve as the night's featured contest.

I knew Silva would headline and I am looking foward to the fight. MMA fans seem to be picking Silva more than Chael, but atleast some are giving Chael a chance (including myself). Chael improved since Maia tapped him out.

I can almost gurantee Chael wont tap from elbows like Lutter, and he will styfle all bjj from Silva.

I like Silva fighting at 185 even though he seems to be having breakdowns and lackluster fights at MW. If he fights at LHW or WW, I wanna see him drop the MW belt. The only guy I want with 2 belts is BJ or GSP.

I hope Chael wins, but I think he will lose a close SD or UD.
He will be able to take Anderson down, sometimes, but get stood up a lot.

Andersons range will be too much to get passed in order for Chael to win the fight with a ud.

Anderson by UD.

I wonder how many people will stick to their word and not buy this card based on Silva's last fight. I know I am going to. I'd suspect a lot of people will stick to their word.

Chael will certainly push the action and make a fight out of this, so I'm really looking forward to it. I will probably avoid purchasing it at the house, but I have no problem watching it at an Applebees or Buffalo Wild Wings.

I think Anderson will regain the trust of MMA fans after this one.

I might buy this to counter the sudden reemergence of haters. Apparently everyone forgot how easily he dispatches elite fighter. Look what he did to Forrest, Hendo, Ace, and Marquardt.

If you're a tall guy and your only risk whatsoever in losing is letting the grappler get a hold of you then you wouldn't be overagressive or engage on the ground. Granted antics were disrespectful, but you can't hate based on the decison outcome. Hate on Maia a bit for not being a good enough fighter to challenge Silva in any way.

I think Sonnen brings something different to the table, and he's not a big submission guy, there is a chance that Anderson will engage Sonnen inside. Sonnen has a real decent shot of winning this match, I think he needs to let Silva come to him, keep his hands high and counter any kicks with a takedown, sounds simple and it really is that simple, he's not going to outbox Silva, so this is his best chance at keeping in the fight.

I'll always pay to see Anderson fight, even if he pisses me off. You simply cannot pass up watching the greatest fighter in the history of the sport. And by the way, Chael is going to be ruined, despite being the most credible threat Anderson has faced at middleweight in awhile.

Someone has to keep their word and since Dana isn't going to do so, I may as well not support it to send my message.

I won't be buying it. This a BWW's event for me. I'll spend my money on spicy garlic wings. I know they won't dance around in front of me and then refuse to jump in my mouth.

I'd love to say that I won't even watch this fight period but depending on the card I may stream or BWW it.
