Why I defend former pride guys

Well, I've been taking alot of BS because of the fact that I defend the former pride guys. Here's why : No one else seems to but a select few of us right now, the former pride guys are having a tough time right now(two are champs) and the UFC fans are loving it. I don't get it, I liked pride better because of the awsome KO's, my favorite fighter fought there, and I don't like the octagon. I recently posted news that Randy was being investigated by a steroid probe, sorry, I guess the UFC fans don't like knowing the truth about whats going on, but if there were to be a write up on shogun being investigated it'd be a giant "omg he did do roids" discussion. I don't care where you sit, if you like mma(I do) I just want to know the news, rumors, everything. Do I care that Cro Cop's lost his fire? Yeah. Do I care that shogun lost? Yeah. Do I care that chuck lost? Yeah. I want to see the best fighters fighting each other. I see Cro Cop as one of the best hw's in the world(as did most of you before he lost twice), I consider shogun to be the best LHW in the world, he dominated rampage the current lhw champ who's been dominating everyone else, and I wanted to finally see chuck and wand, it doesn't matter that chucks lost twice, to me he looks like he's being exposed by good strikers, and it doesn't help that he, like Cro Cop, has lost some of that fire. So in turn, I don't give a crap if your a UFC or a former Pride fan but you should respect everyone who's sacraficing to fight, you should not demean chuck, shogun, or cro cop's accomplishment's, they were/are great fighters and they could all be champs again if they decided thats 100% what they want. I think alot of people on this site are very partial to the UFC, and thats fine, I personally like K-1, K-1 hero's, UFC, old Pride, WCL, anything that has fighting, so calling me a pride nuthugger is fine, but guess what I love everything, one of my favorite fighters is GSP, another is Machida, so yeah i'm going to defend the old pride guys(no one else does) but i'm also very into UFC guys, I don't cheer for org's I cheer for fighters.

Surprisingly I agree with you. I honestly get mad when people throw guys like chuck under the bus to, I do not like chuck anyone can back that up. He's lost two in a row, so what, everyones hero right now is randy, and he's lost alot, so I don't buy into that crap. I just wanted everyone to see why I say what I say, and I don't say it just to aggrivate people(unlike people do to me) I say it because I know fighting and thats what I see.

Can we please stop calling Anderson Silva a pride fighter? Otherwise I'm going to have to start calling Wanderlei a UFC fighter.

As for Randy's alleged steroid use, I would be a little bit more careful what you throw up on the news 1) it makes you look bitter and 2) it's not even confirmed that Randy had HRT. The source of this allegation is a fleeting comment made by Joe Rogan.

On top of that HRT is not deisgned to raise your hormonal levels above normal ranges, it is designed to raise them from low hormone levels up to normal hormone levels. You know who else underwent HRT, Lance Armstrong.

All of those fights that the pride fighters fought, if they were in a Pride ring under Pride rules they would have dominated...

it is funny to read that stuff, it is always when a guy from pride lose that the defeat was because of the rules, and the octogone, and whatever maybe the light , or the music, or i know , it is because that they are afraid of bruce buffer !! or big john is too big for a referee.

stop that, just ask the fighter why they lost and you will see that they gave alot more credit to there opponent.

Well for the Gonzaga/CC fight Cro Cop said he didn't train elbows because they never allowed them in pride and they effected his vision so a better vision CC would have blocked that head kick. The Shogun we saw at 76 was not the shogun form Pride. The Shogun from Pride would have KO'd Forrest...

Nubby, I posted up a page about a rumor, it was not in the news section, I thought it was interesting. HT is used to boost levels above normal, alot of guys do it, and thats exactly what ahhh his name escapes me(the american who was stripped after the last tour de france) he did this "treatment" and he had very high levels of testosterone, which is considered juicing. I hope you do research next time you tell me what's what. Also if it's such a big deal posting rumors then why is there 300,000,000 threads that are rumors? Your just bitter it's about your hero, who by the way has been quoted as saying he was being questioned about this. Quick stat Anderson Silva- 3-2 in Pride, 4-0 in UFC, don't talk to me about the UFC having had superior fighters.

it was floyd landis man, the american who has been disquallify.
i am a cycling fan myself and i was watching the tour when we saw floyd completely fall down in an stage , but man the comeback of the next days was nothing but funny, it was like all the pro in the peleton were completely destroy by an alien. man it was so easy to understand that the guy was no longer under a normal healty food diete !!!

If you like Pride better, that is cool. I love MMA as a whole. I have 176 DVD's. Every Pride that is out. Every UFC that is out. Every KOTC that is out. Every Meca. Every Hook-n-Shoot. Pretty much everything that Sherdog sells, I have.

My problem is when people make up excuses for a lose. Cro Cop didn't train for elbows, that's Cro Cops fault. They use elbows in UFC. You are now fighting for the UFC, train for it. UFC guys don't train for stomps or knees to the head of a downed opponent. If you lose in that fashion and didn't train for it, your fault. Shogun gassed, his fault. Cardio is a huge part of the fight game

The one rule on hear that I enforce, no matter if I don't like that fighter is, Fighter Bashing. I hate it. If you step into the ring or cage, you're the man. You have more heart than I'll ever have. This Pride vs. UFC is over. Pride is done. Their all UFC fighters, but first and foremost, their MMA fighters.

I think the reason you are called a "Pride Nuthugger" is, your defending of everything Pride. Your, "lay-n-pray" posts about the UFC. The "excuses" for Mirko and Shogun. I got so tired of going onto Sherdog and the constant dogging of the UFC. From the fighter entrances to Danna White. Watching Pride, I almost had to turn the volume down listening to the "Fight Professor" to Ranallo go on and on about "The #1 MMA fight org."

Everyone has to get over the Pride vs UFC crap and realize that, it's about the fighters. A good fighter is a good fighter. The org. he fights for doesn't make him better, it's his camp and how he trains. When there is a fight, I go over to a buddy's house to watch it. There's about 10 people there and I have to tell them about how good Cro Cop is. How good Shogun is. I have to defend them. I have been bragging about Wandy. I bragged about Big Nog. Now when they don't show to good, the others laugh. But I still defend them and tell them to just wait, they'll see.

Pride is over and now they're in the UFC. They are no longer Pride fighters. The UFC has their champs in every weight dividion. Rampage is not a Pride champ, he is a UFC champ. When he gets dethroned, it'll be by a UFC fighter, no matter who it is.

My excuses, aren't excuses, they are reason's they lost. People saying they were out classed is wrong, they were out trained, and out prepared. Shogun had a knee injury that probly prevented him from training properly, that's not his fault, thats not forrest's fault, but it's shogun's proud nature that caused him to not pull out, and be made to look like tank abott with more skills. When chuck lost I defended him against people who were saying he was done, no one said I was making excuses for him, but I do the same for Cro Cop and Shogun, i'm making excuses. I'm tired of people trying to take the guys from prides accomplishments away from them, saying they fought lesser competition, when in reality they fought alot of former UFC champs, mixed in with their own champs and new UFC champs. Cro Cop alone has beaten 2 former UFC champs 4 times, beaten 1 former HW tournament winner once, and beaten someone who crushed randy 3x. I could list off everything else but thats not the point of this thread. I feel that Machida(a UFC fighter) is better then alot of prides former LHW's, I feel GSP(a UFC fighter) is better then any WW on the planet, again I could go on and on but I won't. It's not that I don't like UFC fighters, I don't like how American the UFC and it's fans are, but I do understand why. Dana calling Fedor's management "crazy Russians" is not something the president of a business should say, I don't feel all the Randy is a god talk is warrented considering his HW record, and I knew that chuck would be exposed by better strikers. I also feel that the cage detter's certain fans because of it's barbaric apperance, and I do not enjoy the kind of fighters it and the rules favour. well, for a guy who don't make excuses, you are not very convincing.
it is not because you change the word EXCUSES for the word REASONS that you will be able to convince peoples that you don't make excuses for the pride fighter.
also by always coming back with your 500 words NO EXCUSES analyse, you are only giving peoples more and more arguments to go against you.
how many times or how many YEARS you gonna comeback and tell us that cro cop was injured or was not training with elbows etc.. or that shogun bla bla bla...
by exagerate your love for these fighters you are not helping them at all, they are not childrens, they are fighters and i am pretty sure that if they are reading your excuses they are not so happy about that kind of overheat defence. sometimes you have to just watch and enjoys the fight, and be fairplay in the defeat.

To me this makes no sense, an excuse is overlooking fault, I haven't overlooked any fault on the part of the guys, I have stated that they lost because... and gave factual reasons for why. I defend everyone if I feel people are saying improper things, I have defended josh barnett(I don't like him) when people say his win over randy is moot, I defend tim sylvia(I hate) when people say vera will mop the floor with him, and yes I have defended chuck when people say he's finished(chuck is the fighter i hate next to most). I don't care if people want to argue with me, I give actual facts that back up 99% of what I say, other's just say well look at Cro Cop, look at shogun. Yeah look at them, shogun absolutly dominated the current UFC LHW champ, guess what when ppl say that, other scream "he broke his ribs!", then when people say "Cro Cop broke his ribs", it's "quit making excuses". You my friend have double standards, shogun gassed "quit making excuses", "Bj Penn would be unstoppable with a gas tank", one's an excuse, ones a reason for losses.

When chuck lost I defended him against people who were saying he was done, no one said I was making excuses for him, but I do the same for Cro Cop and Shogun, i'm making excuses. I'm tired of people trying to take the guys from prides accomplishments away from them, saying they fought lesser competition, when in reality they fought alot of former UFC champs, mixed in with their own champs and new UFC champs. Cro Cop alone has beaten 2 former UFC champs 4 times, beaten 1 former HW tournament winner once, and beaten someone who crushed randy 3x. I could list off everything else but thats not the point of this thread. I feel that Machida(a UFC fighter) is better then alot of prides former LHW's, I feel GSP(a UFC fighter) is better then any WW on the planet, again I could go on and on but I won't. It's not that I don't like UFC fighters, I don't like how American the UFC and it's fans are, but I do understand why. Dana calling Fedor's management "crazy Russians" is not something the president of a business should say, I don't feel all the Randy is a god talk is warrented considering his HW record, and I knew that chuck would be exposed by better strikers. I also feel that the cage detter's certain fans because of it's barbaric apperance, and I do not enjoy the kind of fighters it and the rules favour. I believe I'm entitled to my opinion and say what I want (within the rules) without being whined and cried at, I don't not try and ram my opinion down people's throats and call people morons and idiot's when they disagree like alot of other's have in the past.

well, for a guy who don't make excuses, you are not very convincing.
it is not because you change the word EXCUSES for the word REASONS that you will be able to convince peoples that you don't make excuses for the pride fighter.
also by always coming back with your 500 words NO EXCUSES analyse, you are only giving peoples more and more arguments to go against you.
how many times or how many YEARS you gonna comeback and tell us that cro cop was injured or was not training with elbows etc.. or that shogun bla bla bla...
by exagerate your love for these fighters you are not helping them at all, they are not childrens, they are fighters and i am pretty sure that if they are reading your excuses they are not so happy about that kind of overheat defence. sometimes you have to just watch and enjoys the fight, and be fairplay in the defeat.

To me this makes no sense, an excuse is overlooking fault, I haven't overlooked any fault on the part of the guys, I have stated that they lost because... and gave factual reasons for why. I defend everyone if I feel people are saying improper things, I have defended josh barnett(I don't like him) when people say his win over randy is moot, I defend tim sylvia(I hate) when people say vera will mop the floor with him, and yes I have defended chuck when people say he's finished(chuck is the fighter i hate next to most). I don't care if people want to argue with me, I give actual facts that back up 99% of what I say, other's just say well look at Cro Cop, look at shogun. Yeah look at them, shogun absolutly dominated the current UFC LHW champ, guess what when ppl say that, other scream "he broke his ribs!", then when people say "Cro Cop broke his ribs", it's "quit making excuses". You my friend have double standards, shogun gassed "quit making excuses", "Bj Penn would be unstoppable with a gas tank", one's an excuse, ones a reason for losses.

well, i never say a word about bj penn gas tank or anything about him, you have the wrong guy man, and if it is you who wrote it , i never saw that so i don't see the point ... and the problem is not that you make excuses for pride fighter or for ufc fighter , it is the excuses itself who is the problem, lets peoples speak there mind, reply one or two times with your arguments and lets move on to others thinks, you know that there are peoples who will always come back with stuff like , i hate this guy, or this guy is a shame etc.. if you try to reply to all of them, man you will have to write all day long for 10 years. if crocop was reading all the stuff against him, man he would be in a big depression !! you are a big fan of pride and you love them but you should take some topic with a little humor, because you blood pressure will go in the red, like mine sometimes !!
when a guy write that this fighter is a .........., it is only to start a war of word and you seem to fall in the trap everytime, you know , it is internet and many peoples are very brave behind there monitor, but if they were in from of you , man there languages and attitudes would be very different.

So what you're saying is, if Forrest had a bad knee or Kongo got knee'd in the nads and or didn't train for elbows you would except that as a "reason" for them losing and not an "excuse?"

Pretty much. UFC guys are supposed to lose to the top Pride fighters.

And Zep you are correct that these guys are no longer truly Pide fighters now that they are in the UFC but when I use the term Pride fighters I am referring to the fighters that have had the majority of their fights in Pride as a way of distinguishing the talent pools during those periods.

Yes, I can honestly say I was just as mad when GSP didn't lose a point against hughes, incidental or not, more then one kick/knee/punch to the nuts is cause for a point deduction. I can also say if someone comes in with an injury I would give that as a possible "reason" they lost.

no it has nothing to do with my english and everything to do with me being right and u having nothing to say about it. a reason is an excuse no matter how legitimate it may be. if u get stuck in traffic going to work and u tell your boss that u are late because of it, it is still an excuse. u are just upset because u always thought pride fighters would dominate in the ufc and instead, with the exception of rampage, they are getting destroyed and putting in bad performances. dont take your anger out on me cmill21, im just telling it like it is, i am a big fan of cro cop and shogun but i will be the first to say that cro cop is done and shogun got dominated by forrest.

your logic is flawed when u try to justify anderson silva as a pride fighter too, if ur trying to say that the ufc has less competition anyways. silva has switched camps and obviously improved a lot since his time in pride just like wanderlei. wandy went 1-2 in the octagon and after he left he made some adjustments and went 3-0 in his first year in pride. similar situation if u ask me.

So your saying even facts are excuses? Facts are actual reason's, reasons imply fault IE: Cro Cop didn't train with elbows and a cage. This is a reason that he lost, it's his fault he didn't do what he needed to training wise. If someone were to say Cro Cop coulden't train in a cage, thats an excuse because he could have and it leaves no blame on him. Do you understand the english lesson? Everything I say has facts behind it, Zep, nubby, yourself and others seem to ignore that and just repeat the same garbage. If shogun did pull out of the griffin fight like he should have, then there would be people saying he's scared of Forrest, if Cro Cop fights AA and LHK's him in round one everyone will be saying he's back, if chuck Ko's wand everyone will be saying rampage is next, this site has twisted views on talent, and no respect for fighters accomplishments throughout their careers, I hope that changes one day.

Facts!?! of course it is fact that cro cop didnt train elbows, but syaing that's the reason he lost is an excuse not a fact! u cant say that cro cop would have won the fight if he would have trained with elbows, thats not a fact, he may have had a better shot at winning but that doesnt change the FACT that he got knocked out with a high kick to the head. and u are making a huge mistake by saying that everyone on this site has twisted views on talent, and no respect for fighters accomplishments.
