Who Could You One Day See as Champ?

Only list the younger people, not like Fedor and Wanderlei LOL.
But I strongly believe that Soko will one day be champ. He's a blackbelt in Judo, he trains at Team Quest. He's only 23 and KO's two top tens in the first round. He has so much power he even KO'd a Nogueira cold.
And GSP...LOL come on.
And I'm kinda on the fence with Karo Parysian. He's only 25 and has accomplished alot, but he's fighting in a very stacked division and I can't see him beating some top guys like Jon Fitch and GSP. But in 5 years things will be very different.
What's some of the guys that you think have enough potential to be #1 in their weight class?

Kendall Grove has a lot of potential and fighters usually come back stronger after a loss so we'll see how he does against a veteran like Jorge Rivera

i think Shogun has great potential-> he is still very young, and he has already been there with the world's best and beat most of them

I'd have to say out of the younger guys who haven't already been a champ (So GSP is out) Jon Fitch has the best chance. I don't know if he could beat someone like St. Pierre though.

Oyea I forgot about Shogun, yea he's a pretty obvious one lol.

Shogun is an obvious one. Mac Danzig one day too, he has some mileage in him yet. Lauzon perhaps after BJ, Sherk etc return, he is very young.
Jerome Le Banner could well be the Super HW champ in 08, may well beat Semmy for the belt.

Lol

. Perhaps we'll see Mr. Bonjasky and Mr. Hari fight for the HW title

. Anyways I see Shogun winning the title in 2008, with a few years of back and forth fighting between him and Soko. As for Lebanner he did tell schilt he'd "knock his block off" during the first round of their fight at this year WGP lol, so i'd like to see it happen. Also who woulden't want to see Remy win? He was shot with a dart and still managed to follow the shooters and had them arrested(they got off lucky since he could have easily beat them to death).

I guess these 2 are still young enough-Roger Huerta and Clay Guida. They're among the future of UFC's beyond loaded LW division.

I think Florian and lauzon could be champs one day , also Fitch, Kapmann, and machida

Mark my words...by the end of 2009 Marcus Davis will be atop the WW division. His game is constantly improving at an incredible rate and i think given to time to further improve himself he will develop the experience and talent to defeat the best of the best. I say he beats GSP in the later months of 2009 to claim the WW championship. the sky is the limit with this fighter and it is a definite possibility for him to become the champ in late 2009 / early 2010.

Karo would dominate Fitch, and did you not see his first match with GSP?

I'll be the next champ after I steamroll BJ, Sherk, and anyone else who dares get in my way.

I like Joe Daddy Stevenson's potential.
Huerta (sp?) & Guida both are just killer.
Cory Hill...
Still think Diego Sanchez has great potential too (personally like his upside more than Kos', even tho he lost)
Believe it or not, Cheick Congo. He's got some growing to do with skills, but he has the raw atheletic ability to be -fearsome-.
Think thats about it, off the top of my head.

I think Soko is definitely the future of the LHW division he has so many gifts thats its scary to be a LHW in the top 5 right now.
Joe Lauzon is going to be beast as he is about the same age as Soko and with some stand up game added to his already amazing BJJ and a pretty good stand up to begin with watch out LW's.
I know Koscheck is going to be champ some day personally i think its just a matter of time. I honestly think he would have beaten Hughes if GSP diddn't step up to fight for the interm title as Kos was asked if he wanted the shot and he said yes but GSP got it instead. He may have looked a little sluggish against GSP, but thats because he got too full of himself on his wrestling and didn't focus on it like he should have.Just mainly focusing on stand up which killed any chances he had. We wont see that again however because you learn much more from a loss then you do from a win and we will see Kos holding the title in the end of 08 or begining of 09.

I think Guida and Huerta both have legit shots at becoming champs very soon but the man of the future in the LW division will be Tyson Griffin.
With his skill and strength and Randy in his corner he will definately be a force in the UFC.
and as a side note if the UFC can make a deal and this man can gain some weight, Uriah Faber will hold the belt for a very very long time.

i can't belive no one has mentioned Frank Edgar. I also think Thiago alves has got a great chance. GG is still yong and improving his already good skills.

Roger Huerta, Jon Fitch, Gabriel Gonzaga, Mac Danzig and Rashad Evans

I think Dustin Hazelett could be the future of the welterweight division.

thiago silva, frank edgar, roger huerta, and soku all come to mind immediately. i didnt include shogun because he is already very established in the sport.

does brock lesner count cause i think he will
Pitbull09
12/24/07 8:51:29PM
Roger Huerta (I think he could beat Stevenson or BJ Penn, maybe not Sherk though)
Jon Fitch (I think a lot of people see this possiblity)
Thiago Alves (If GSP isnt champ, he could win the title for a brief time. He needs to work on ground defense alittle better though)
Gray Maynard (The guy is improving and has a stronger wrestling backround in a lightweight division which is a very good mix.)
Forest Griffin (Hes still young and a lot of the besst guys in the division like Chuck and Wandy are getting pretty old. If the division doesnt get new potential after them he has a good chance since we already saw him beat Shogun.)

I'm a little disappointed, I wanted to be the first to say Edgar. I agree with most of the posts here. I like Fitch and Kos a lot. Can't wait to see how it all shakes out!

Lauzon perhaps after BJ, Sherk etc return, he is very young.

Him and his brother Dan will be the LW version of Fedor and Aleks
Besides Lauzon, I could see Bisping at 185 (once A. Silva is retired...)

All 3 of these are on my list as well . Forrest, Soko,Kawajiri, Machida( not sure if it will be at 205 or 185 though) , Huerta,Aoki,Bigfoot Silva, Horodecki,D. Maia , T. Silva and G. Maynard. Also becuase his physical skills are so overwhelming ,if Corey Hill sticks with training hard in a serious camp( currently Militech I think, so that counts) I think he could be up there in 2 years.
Mirko - Stevenson - Thiago Alves - Tommy Speer
