Dana White: Randy Couture ‘belongs to me’

UFC President Dana White emphasizes once again that Randy Couture — who recently resigned from his position as heavyweight champion — is going to have a difficult time fighting in another organization against someone like Emelianenko in nine months when his UFC contract expires.

I think Dana White is just a very passionate guy. If Fedor had signed, Dana wouldn't be able to say enough good things about Fedor, but since he didn't sign, Dana is probably a little let down. I think some people would see that as being pissed off and immature, and maybe some of it is, but that is a tough loss for him.

Ok, so first Dana calls him the best MMA artist ever, then offers him 2mil per fight, then when he doesn't sign Dana crys and calls him overhyped. I think Dana's a spoilt kid who cries when he doesn't get his way.

Randy CANNOT use the salary excuse...He wanted a new contract and he AGREED to it on HIS terms with Dana white on that contract. He just is making up new excuses to be let out that contract to beat fedor...

Dont get me wrong, I love Randy as a fighter and I would love to see Fedor/Randy but that excuse has nothing to back it up besides Jardine being underpayed for putting the beatdown on Chuck...

Dude how can u compare Fedor to Brandon Vera at this point. Fedor has smashed some of the best in the world with ease while brandon is untested at this point and hasnt fought any high calbre opponents. Fedor is not overrated....overhyped? Yes, but he isn't overrated. Dana is just being a dick as usual, he always badmouths fighter who dont do as he wants.

Dana White has to grow up a bit and stop talking in the media like he's in a junior high school beef. The guy lacks some serious professionalism, trashing Fedor now that he hasn't signed? Come on who does that? You want credability and all that comes with it .....Earn it. Quit being such a punk ass. And Fedor would smash randy. I love the guy but smashed BAD

I think you are a little confused. Brandon Vera does not have 10 fights to his name, and he's never fought world-level competition. Fedor has 20+ MMA fights to his name, and he beat every top HW in the world, besides Randy. And I don't think Randy is even top 3 HW in the world right now, but that's just me. In any case, you cannot even mention Fedor and Vera in the same sentence.

Fedor and Brandon Vera both are tied for my favorite HW fighters after Couture. Randy proved what he had to prove in my opinion, but them boys are bad, and they will both get to proving themselves shortly!

i was arguing the same thing on another post, randy is an adult, in fact , he is multimillionaire and he have a very good lawyer for sure.
so, his last contract was very good for him and he was well paid to do his job, the ppv % is never mention on any site, so his real salarie is never reveal.

i think his decision was precipitated and base on some anger about fedor who was not going to sigh with the ufc.

as for jardine, well, did somebody heard about jardine complaning ? not sure.
he know that he will be very well pay but he have to move up a little bit and , well, i think his last fight was a really good start for him, because anytime you beat a champ, your name is in the air for a long time and he will receive what he deserve very soon i think.

There is no doubt in my mind that Randy would SMASH Fedor, not even in the slightest little bit. Randy is a giant killer its what he does. To say that he is an amazing wrestler wouldnt be giving the man credit. Fedor has some pretty sick submissions, but Randy is such a dominant grappler that I dont see him getting subbed. And as far as striking goes, I think they are pretty damn close...this is just one mans opinion, I'm sure everyone has thier own.

I don't want to get into a big thing but Randy's been subbed by guys who don't have 1/10th of what fedor offers. Fedor isn't someone who takes fights lightly(as alot of guys do) and Randy's not flying in under the radar, so the giant killer monicer doesn't work. He also dropped to LHW because he coulden't handle guys who have been eaten alive by lesser opponents then Fedor. I personally don't think randy would have beaten big nog, and I really don't think he would have beaten fedor. Also fedor's not going to let randy toss him around, he doesn't look like a really strong guy, but he is, and not only that he's a world sambo champ, which is a very good form of wrestling. I think Randy's great, but I don't think he's beating fedor. Remember he's only beaten Tim, and GG, it's not like he's ran through big nog, cro cop, aa, and the guys people feel are all the top competition, he's beaten an underprepared Tim, and a verry much over rated GG.

Its tough to go against Randy but if he fought Fedor he would lose. Fedor is so well rounded the only thing he has going against him is he hasn't fought in a while. The ring shouldn't slow him down imo. Fedor wins by KO. Dana is just pissed about not signing Fedor. I don't know what Fedor was demanding as far as money but Dana should have signed him regardless. He ended up loosing two fighters in the long run, Randy and Fedor. Too bad, was really looking forward to finding out who was the best heavyweight in the world.

Ah c'mon man. Seriously. To start, Randy being a giant killer I find somewhat overhyped. Remember, this guy lost TWICE to Chuck in standup striking. You wanna compare Randy to Fedor as "damn close"? Not even in the same league. Second, just because Randy is an exceptional wrestler/grappler and of course his favorite style of combat, doesn't mean that once he goes to the ground with Fedor its lights out for Fedor. Fedor's strength IS his ground work, and he HAS faced incredibly talented fighters over and over that are ground fighting specialists with overwhelming results against them. Dana suggesting that Fedor hasn't beaten anybody lately is completely retarded. Fedor, with all the top talent that he has faced over recent years, has never been pushed around or mauled or dominated, Randy HAS been.

Oh come on... First of all, Randy has not submitted a serious fighter since 2001. He kept stunned and injured Tim Sylvia on the mat for 25 minutes, and could not submit him. Randy had Tim's back for majority of the first round and could not do anything. I do not mean to insult Tim's ground game, but he's not exactly a submissions expert. Yes, Randy is an excellent wrestler, but as far as submission game goes, he is not one of the best.

Secondly, Randy's stand up is really, really questionable. Napao tagged him with solid shots at least 4 times during their match. If Napao had any knockout power in his fists, that fight would have ended very differently.

I just do not see Randy having any chance against Fedor, I don't think Randy is that good.

I think Randy vs Fedor would be a good fight....I think if it would go to decision Randy would win and would have used the cage/dirty boxing to throw Fedor out of his game and pick up a Win....... but if it ends inside the 5 round limit, I would see Randy losing via Submission
