UFC president Dana White has stated, in no uncertain terms, that is no way that there will be a boxing rules match up between Roy Jones Jr. and UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. The news comes courtesy of Dave Meltzer.

That was the dumbest idea to begin with. It was a lose-lose for Silva and MMA. Thank you Dana!

Good i say. This, imao, would be too carnival like for me.

Spider needs to stick to what he does best, dominating a shallow division.

I am so glad to hear that.
If Randy cant fight elsewhere, Nobody should and it's good to see Dana being 'Fair'.

Roy just would of beat Anderson on points anyway, The man is a magician with gloves on!

Hey Silva, did you forget you were in the UFC now?...they don't allow that.
Just as well, it was a bad idea.

I guess you can't blame him for wanting a little competition again. After Henderson, he's probably getting bored.

This was predictable. If i was Dana i wouldn't want my most dominant champion getting beat in another sport tarnishing his "invincibility" status that he has piled up in recent years. it would make no sense for Dana to let this happen unless he genuinely believed that Silva would win. i am against this and think it is in fact a bad decision for Silva. for him to box RJJ would be the equivalent of the New England Patriots playing the South African rugby team in rugby...just two different sports. MMA and boxing are not really similar at all in terms of dynamics and skill and i believe that it is unwise to fight a man who has been a pro boxer for years and has at one time been the best boxer in the world when you haven't ever participated in boxing. IMO there should be a middle ground and make this a K-1 match that way it takes the best of both worlds so to say so there isn't such a lopsided advantage for RJJ; maybe then Dana would agree to it.

AMEN, roy jones better hit the ground and forget about stopages unless his eys pop out. Boxng is dying, don't give it anymore life.

It better change or get outta the way.

That said I still love Kelly Pavlik.

holler Dana, holler

I agree that this would be too big of a show and not as much of a sporting contest.

However i dont think that the middleweight division is shallow. I just think Silva makes it look that way by how good he is.

but it is a tad shallow... rather more to say it is not as deep as the LW, WW, and LHW

i think he had a good chance but this is definatly a good move for MMA as a whole any way you look at it except anderson ending it in 30 seconds

There is another site where a lot of people are saying that it would be fair because Jones Jr wold come and fight Silva in the cage. They about made me jump through the computer.

the only medium that would make sense would be a stand up striking fight because otherwise whichever way they fought would be utter domination
