Addressing cuts made by UFC in recent months, Dana White said it's nothing abnormal. SImply guys have to win to stay in.

Makes sense. Dana does actually talk a lot of sense most of the time.

Who were they quoting in that article? No f bombs means it wasn't DW.

PS Fedor isn't even top 5. He is so overrated.

i think the door will be open still for some guys to make it back while others like lutter and starnes won't ever be back

It's actually better for the sport and in some cases the UFC themselves when they (the UFC) cuts fighters.
If they (Zuffa) sign them in the WEC it keeps them from signing with the competition and the former UFCers will boost the WEC TV ratings and event sales.
If the competition does sign them...it will boost their (the competition) ratings and ticket sales etc.
It's a win, win situation for MMA...and in some cases the UFC themselves.
Jake O'Brien vs. Kimbo Slice?
That would be cool.
Look at what the former UFCers have done for Affliction as well.....they have put together a really great card!
Not to mention the UFC has to cut fighters....the TUF middleweights will be here soon.....don't forget they really are fighting for multiple contracts...as the UFC obviously sign many from each season.
Like he (Dana) said...they get cut...go back down the ranks...win a few and try the UFC again...I have been a fan since the start...I have seen many fighters do just that.

Yeah right, what about Brad Imes? The guy gets cut after a 0-3 performance and follows it up with a 5 win streak and never got called back. I know this is just one example, but I am sure we can find more if we think about it. Not only that, the HW division is really dwindling right now.

It's probably because most of the those wins were over terribly over matched opponents. Imes isn't good enough to be on the UFC regardless of how thin or lackluster the HW division is.

Might have something to do with Brad Imes not being good.

but then look what happened...he lost 2 of his last 3. of those 5 wins you mentioned, only 1 was against a fighter with a record above .500. he has proven that he is not UFC material and his recent loss to Roy Nelson only reaffirms it. So imo, Imes is not a good example.

I am glad they are making cuts....Most the people they have cut put on boring performances and are not A level fighters.....

Wasnt Jake O'Brien 3-1 in the UFC and got cut after losing to AA? Not sure I agree with that in principle to what Dana is trying to address. However, I do not mind object to O'Brien being cut (That Herring fight was atrocious!) but to say it was because of losses is stretching it a bit (Cut after a loss to AA? Thats not a reason to be cut!).

if they kept everyone .. then it wouldnt mean a thing to be in the UFC

I agree Imes is not a "great" fighter. However, the point I was trying to make with Imes is the fact that Dana didn't state that they would be back in the UFC because they are good fighters. It was a matter of "winning fights" elsewhere. I think Dana is just saying what he is saying in order to placate the criticisers. I don't think it's as objective as he is saying.
