During the UFC 71 post-fight press conference, Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White confirmed what Josh Gross reported last week: The purchase of Pride Fighting Championships has been finalized

I didn't realize that the deal was only done a couple days ago. And here we all are on the forums trying to analyze the future of Pride. I guess we'll really see the future of Pride in the weeks to come. But like I've stated in the past, if as Dana White says "We're going to have them all" (have all the fighters come to the UFC) then Pride becomes an empty closet - then my guess is they'll shut it down.

I hate to bring Pro Wrestling into this, but its the ECW situation all over again if it's approached like that... They sensed competition, they bought competition, they exploited competition, and then shut it down (even though technically ECW is still around its not the same. No soccer kicks. lol).

I want them to strip everyone of their belts, PRIDE and UFC champs alike. Then have weight class tournaments, and decide them that way. Just my opinion.
