Yeah Severn is still going strong after all these years.I think he's the oldest competitor in MMA today.

Remember when he suplexed Macias in his ufc Debut...
Ahh the bad old days when Carl anderson the topless steak house owner/ pit fighter fought the that dude that was a Ninja....

ok so the facts are mixed-
Dan Severn is from here in michigan ( Mostrose originally now in coldwater) and I have had the pleasure of meeting him and being thrown around by him- just an all round great guy that loves to compete- Glad they did not ask him to fight lessnar- However Coleman will go down almost as quick.

Jeremy Horn has had a great career as well > Check out his pedigree on bo-dog-
I hope he trains hard for his upcoming ufc fight.

Not sure where this string will head but its cool to think back on those pioneer ufc guys.

well first of all he does not by far have the best record imo. it is filled with cans. yes he is still fighting at an old age, but against no bodies. by your logic Travis Fulton would have the best record...and we all know how far from the truth that is. the best record in MMA, imho, has to be either Kid Yamamoto or Fedor.

with that said Severn is indeed a "beast" and a true warrior. it was because o fhim that wrestlers started to flock to MMA. i would say it is an even mix of him and Royce Gracie that is responsible for the development of MMA that we can see today.

Ahh you mention the old UFC fighters...

But the one that sticks out is Orlando vs. that huge duded LOL

me and my bro watch that and you see Orlando on the bottom try to jump up and fail miserably cuz the guy has like 100 pounds on Orlando LOL

You know, it might be against cans but for a guy his age to of fought 3 times this year already is insane. Even though i respect ken shamrock for trying to fight good competition, i think at this point he should follow the beast and go out with a few wins, wether it be against cans or not. Its funny this thread should be brought up today, i was just watching the 1999 royal rumble with some buddies last night and ken and dan where both part of it. Gave me a few chuckles.

He still fights lots of amatuer matches as well. he also competes in many wrestling tournaments. I wrestled him in a local tournament, and lost. Got close to winning though, had a take down. But he just kept pushing me out of bounds. A new rule just added three years ago to international (olympic) style wrestling states that the other oponent gets a point if you step out of bounds. This is suppose to keep people from fleeing the mat, but in reality if the match is competive, it just turns into a Sumo match with the stronger guy trying to push out the weaker one. Its a BS rule that needs to be changed.

On a side note the Servern family coached my middle school wrestling team, and then again my High School Rivals. I've wrestled a total of 4 Severns in my times. Dan, his two nephews, and his neice. I lost each and every time. Thats right, I lost to his neice! (I was 12 and weighed 93lbs)
