To cut or not to cut? What is Dana getting at?

I found this a little weird.Maybe I missed something in-between but early in the week it was posted that Dana White loved Wanderlei Silva,and he claimed even if the "Axe Murderer" lost 10 in a row,he was exciting and he would have a place in the UFC.

But now Dana has came out a few days later and claimed Wanderlei needs a win to stay in the UFC.With the recent cuts the company has made,and with Dana having a change of heart within a matter of days,it leaves me wondering what is going on?UFC 84 is going to have some rising talent on the card,which makes me think they replaced guys like Lutter with up and comers that seem better suited to have exciting matches.But the whole Silva thing I find rather confusing.

What do you guys think is going on?

Wanderlei needs a win

It's just hype for the fight. Wandys not going anywhere win or lose but if people think he needs a win or he gets the boot it makes for more interesting television. It's all about the money.

imo the ufc needs silva more then he needs the ufc he is a name in america and overseas everyone nos him casual fan and other. he draws palin and simple i agree this is just to add extra hype.

One of the funniest things I've ever read on these forums

He won't cut him yet I believe. His last few losses were to a hard hitting heavyweight and many consider middleweight to be Wandy's natural weight if he would drop down. And one was two Chuck Liddell, a UFC legend, and Hendo who is one of the best P4P fighters in the world only losing to my #1 and #2 current best P4P fighters.

As long as he does not get completely out classed and school which has never happened, and goes down in excitement like against Liddell. He'll be too popular to let go and they'll use him as a gatekeeper or stepping stone for Rashad Evans or some other person who needs a big win to be considered for a title shot.
