Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to name some cover tunes. Not just any cover tunes, and not just good cover tunes... Cover tunes that you like more than the original.

I'll get us started:

"All Along the Watchtower" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, originally by Bob Dylan (I think I prefer the album version, but I couldn't find it)
"Live and Let Die" by Guns n' Roses, originally by Wings
"It's My Life" by No Doubt, originally by Talk Talk
"Sweet Jane" by Cowboy Junkies , originally by The Velvet Underground
"Got The Time" by Anthrax, originally by Joe Jackson.
"On Her Majesty's Secret Service" by Propellerheads, originally by John Barry

EDIT: Added more songs, links, and original artists.

Hurt - Johnny Cash

If I am not mistaken, I think the story goes somehting like this. Trent didn't want anybody remaking any of his songs, as they are personal to him. Cash and Rubin(?) wanted his blessing. Trent didn't give it, but they made it anyway. When it was finally finished, someone told Trent he needed to hear it. He later said Cash nailed it and believed his was better.

Although great, Slade- Come on feel the noize http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nioL4sH3QIk

I prefer Quiet Riot's heavier sound. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nioL4sH3QIk

Carlos Cavazo is a cool guy, got to meet him a couple months back and hung out, talked about music and partied for hours. Unbelievable, growing up and meeting and hanging out with a guy I looked up to as a kid (12 when I got the album) and not being disappointed one bit.

Small world.

The Badge by Poison Idea(Covered by Pantera)

Planet Caravan by Black Sabbath(also covered by Pantera)

Temptaion by Heaven 7(Coved by Cradle of Filth)

Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode(covered by Lacuna Coil)

Them Bones by Alice in Chains(covered by Grave)*

I'm Gonna Be Your Dog by The Stooges(covered by Slayer)**

Would? by Alice in Chains(Covered by Opeth)***

* I don't think Grave's version is better, but they're a death metal band, and it makes the song a lot more "interesting".

**Slayer cover is a parady, entitled "I'm Gonna Be Your God".

*** The Opeth verion doesn't have the 3rd chorus

He's a fricken queer, but this is a pretty dope remix

Tainted Love- Marilyn Manson originally done by Gloria Jones.

I saw the best pole dance I've ever seen done to that Marilyn Manson remix when I was in Germany. It was seriously so good that not only do I remember it like it was yesterday, but I walked up and tipped the dancer 20 euros right on the spot because it was such a good dance. So the song will always have a special meaning in my heart haha

Tainted Love- Marilyn Manson originally done by Gloria Jones.

I saw the best pole dance I've ever seen done to that Marilyn Manson remix when I was in Germany. I think I like Soft Cell's version better, even though Mark Almond makes Marilyn Mason look macho by comparison, he's got ten times the singing voice that Manson does. I like Manson's freaks-crash-a-frat-party video, though (I think I've been to a few of those parties), and I have to admit that I enjoyed seeing Chyler Leigh turned to the Dark Side...

Yeah, that chick turned goth was definitely hot. I still gotta go with Manson's version over the one you posted. I think I'm too partial because of the pole dance
