I missed a couple of picks on the secondary league. I had a bad computer virus. It was so bad that Geek Squad couldn't even fix it. Every time they tried to get rid of it, it would double and attach to other programs. I don't know how I got it. Does anybody have any tips on how to avoid them, because I had to buy a whole new computer. It cost me $600.

just use system recovery on the one with the virus......it will fix it and restore it like if it were brand new....you'll lose all your data, but you would of saved $600

when you restart your pc you press f11 and follow the instructions

just reformat the drive....very basic virus killer. But youll lose everything on the pc.

You could get virus protection. There is a good one called:.....STOP DOWNLOADING PORN!!!! ha just kidding

Really the best option these days is to have two computers. HAve one disconnected from the internet for all your games and work.

Have another one that is plugged in, with minimal software, that you use for surfing and downloading stuff. Once every 6-12 months reformat the one that is plugged in and virus scan all files before you move them to your other computer.

Computers get updated frequently these days so it is not inconceivable to have a second "old beater" PC plugged in.

Use webmail for email and don't open up crap you get form people. You know how many viruses I avoided getting because I didn't open an attachement to see the little fire works?

Using a mac helps, though viruses are becoming more common for macs now than 10+ years ago.

I mean, the list goes on for what you can do to prevent getting viruses.

I agree, that is probably the safest way to do that. The only problem is the life of your HDD is going to be significantly shorter if you reformat every 6 months.

I use Mc Afee security center with the antivirus set at level stealth.
It block everything !!

You have to set a specific port for downloading with a torrent program and the rest is completely hided.

before that i was at the normal setting and i got some package of virus who were able to pass over the antivirus and i was having to remove them with another program but since i am at the level stealth everything is perfect and i never have any problem with package of multiple virus who try to infiltrate your system at the same time .

I have a mac, and bought becuase a comp. savvy buddyy of mine told me they don't get viruses. I have never had one in 2 years, so if you can still take back the one you just bought, try buying a mac.
